It is a great place to know the "real" Mallorca, a perfect place to make excursions to the nearby beaches, to practice some sports like trekking (the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana are only at 9 km.), Golf (the newest Majorcan golf course is at just 5 km), water sports,... or just enjoy the Mediterranean life. Charming house that romantic couples looks for in a quiet place. Also we can recommend our unique house for families with children.
Further details outdoors:
This historical house is located in the centre of the historical old town of Alcudia, at just 150 meters from the main square, plenty of cosy cafes and restaurants.
You leave the square down winding streets in several directions to get to points on the medieval wall such as the Puertas of Xara and Sant Sebastia, and the Church of Sant Jaume, opposite which lies the Roman city of Pollentia and a little beyond the Roman theatre, a "rara avis" , or rarity, because it is entirely dug into the rock.
A row of orange trees mark the route of the main streets, the Carrer del Moll and Carrer Major. The house is adjacent to small jewellery shops, shoe shops, clothing stores, bars, restaurants, among many large houses built centuries ago, small and peaceful squares. Alcúdia is one of those places where it's worth losing onself amongs its streets to discover around every corner a new charm, a new feel.
Every Tuesday and Sunday morning, the pace of the city speeds up with the market. The farmers, traders, artisans, artists fill the color and bustle of people around, inside and outside the medieval wall.

Enquire nowThe Mallorca/Majorca region
Alcúdia, called the faithful city in Christian times, the name has an Arabic and Roman footprint. A past forged between them in a privileged enclave in the north of Mallorca. Situated close to the Sierra de Tramontana, Alcúdia has at its back the farm and rural Mallorca, and bathes its feet in the waters of two bays, the north of Pollença and Alcúdia east. Alcúdia is located in the middle of this area of contrasts, between the stone wall of the Serra and the sandy coves of the Bay Alcudiense.
The present does not detract from the historical legacy that remains today Alcúdia an unknown place for many island residents, which surprising is unknown to most. It is not common to find an authentic place located so acessible to the tourist that has kept the essence of the Mediterranean town where everything happens at another speed, where everything is savored and enjoyed. Alcudia, in a sense, we live today as yesterday, taken within its medieval walls (which began building in 1300). Sa Plaza is the hub of alcudienses, place of passage, the meeting point. Around it are bars and terraces that allow us to enjoy this peaceful place and combine it with a good dish.
Leaving the square´s winding streets in several directions you get to points on the wall such as the gates of Xara and Sant Sebastia, and the Church of Sant Jaume, opposite which lies the city of Rome Pollentia and a little beyond the Roman theater, a "rara avis" because it is actually constructed into the rock.
A row of orange trees mark the route of the main streets, the Carrer del Moll and Carrer Major. The house is adjacent to small jewelry shops, shoe shops, clothing stores, bars, restaurants, among many large houses built centuries ago, small and peaceful squares. Alcúdia is one of those places where it's worth losing yourself in its streets to discover around every corner a new charm, a new feel.
Every Tuesday and Sunday morning, speeding up the pace of the city with the market. The farmers, traders, artisans, artists fill the color and bustle of people around, inside and outside the medieval wall.
A mere two kilometers Port d'Alcudia is a small fishing port, which nowadays has become very popular for people who want to live near the beach. The promenade has won several competitions in architecture and urbanism. The Port is alive with a pleasant aroma in the breeze. On one side the sea, llauts (traditional fishing boats) and modern marina Alcudiamar. On the other hand, the best fish restaurants, ice cream parlors and clothing stores. And facing the beach, miles of fine sand that draws the semicircle of the bay of Alcúdia. It is the most popular beach in the area and has all sorts of services from bars to boat rental and sailing courses.
Not only is there beach of Alcudia. Those who love to browse around have a lot to do. Since there are almost twenty beaches of sand and rocks, accessible only by sea. Among the intimate beaches include Alcanada, or the S'Illot Coll Baix. The latter is a true marvel of nature that is only accessible by boat to have a pleasant outing among pine trees and rocks.
Precisely from the Coll Baix begin some very interesting excursions for those who love trekking and nature as it rises to Talaia Sa, a former defensive watchtower at the highest point of the municipality. From above we see two bays, the Serra, Alcúdia, the Pla de Mallorca and when the day is clear, the coast of Menorca.
But if there is somewhere to visit for nature lovers, it is S'Albufereta S'Albufera. We have there two of the largest wetlands of ecological importance of the Balearic Islands, located in Alcudia and its environs, and that meet an interesting plant and animal life.

we were delightfully surprised by this gem in Alcudia Old Town . It is built inside the walled town with some very very old features which add to the experience. The town is a warren of cobbled streets with a mixture of old rustic and new buildings. The name "Loft" really doesn't do it justice as its more of a duplex apartment with a second, separate loft apartment across the patio area. We were there when the heatwave was at its worst - so the air conditioning was a Godsend ! Unfortunately the little loft apartment didn't have A/C so my son and his fiance did struggle a bit with the temperature - but it was unbelievably hot everywhere - its probably fine when the weather is cooler. The property is very well furnished with everything you could need . Juan was very friendly , we didn't need him for anything during our stay but he lives nearby so wouldn't have been a problem. In the town itself there are lots of lovely restaurants and tapas places so you don't need to go far. Its a lovely walk around the walled fortress-type town and all the little streets are very quaint. We usually always go to beachside properties / hotels so this was a real change for us all. Alcudia port / beach is approx 1 mile - you can walk or taxi - taxis are cheap enough ( 5-6 euros ) , the walk is ok , only don't do it in midday sun !! It's not particularly interesting or picturesque so only do this if you are a keen walker. Alcudia beach is beautiful , long, miles of white clean sand and shallow waters. Puerta Pollensa is a similar distance but we didn't tackle the walk due to the intense heat. The market - Tues and Sun is fun -sells just about everything - and the stall holders seem to love a good haggle!! Not the British way, I know - but they really encourage you and once you lose the initial embarrassment , its actually really good fun , with bargains to be had - especially at closing up time ! Local supermarkets : there are 2 big ones within about 5-10 min walk , one just outside walled area and one out on way towards Alcudia port / beach. The food is very well priced - the fruit and veg are wonderful , as are the fresh meats and seafood. The wine is cheap although white wine seems quite unusual in the supermarkets - with Red and Rose being the popular choices. Al in , a holiday with a difference, but one to be recommended if you like more than just lying by a hotel pool , and eating all - inclusive food ! Response: Thanks a lot for your message. It is always nice receiving positive feedback from satisfied clients. It was a pleasure helping you enjoy a little bit more your holidays and I look forward to assisting you again soon. Kind regards. Juan |
