About the home

Vila Luisa is a large three bedroom villa which comprises approximately 1900 sq ft of internal space. The split level sitting / dining area opens out onto a magnificant terrace area which sweeps around the the front aspect of the property and provides the perfect location for alfresco dining and simple relaxation. The pool area, which is totally enclosed with lockable iron gates and therefore very child friendly and private, benefits from sun for most of the day and has spectacular views over the local countryside. The large gardens at Vila Luisa are also a real bonus for children, with plenty of little areas to explore.

The three bedrooms and two bathrooms are located off the split level dining / sitting area with two of the bedrooms having veranda doors which open onto the pool area. The kitchen is spacious and well equiped with a small dining table. Both bathrooms are of a good size and modern.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

Vila Luisa is located in the rural but very accessible small hillside hamlet of Fazenda Caravela. With a commanding elevated position Luisa has superb views towards the exclusive Amendoeira Golf resort and surrounding orange and olive groves. The magnificent Algarve beaches of Marinha, Gale and Armacao de Pera are an easy 15 minutes drive and are all child friendly. The historic town of Silves with its ancient castle and cathedral is 10 minutes away and boasts a supermarket, open market, eateries, banks and an indoor leisure complex. From Silves the road winds to the mountain spa town of Monchique and Caldas Spa where the splendor of the whole Algarve coastline can be viewed on a clear day. The small fishing towns of Alvor and Ferragudo (25 min) offer superb fish restaurants whilst the historic port of Lagos with its small cobbled streets and marina has plenty to explore. Further afield the quiet Western Algarve beaches of Salema, Ingrina and Martinhal are certainly worth a day trip.

The Alcantarilha area

Vila Luisa benefits from a quiet and very private position. The surrounding area provides the opportunity for pleasant evening walks and benefits from little through traffic. For those who require nightlife the larger tourist resorts of Albefeira and Vilamoura are easily reached but Vila Luisa will suit those best who are looking for a holiday in a high quality private villa and do not wish to be located within a major tourist resort. On the other hand, the location of the villa means that the coast is an easy drive (15 mins) and family attractions such as Zoo Marina, Slide and Splash and the Fiesa Sand Festival at Pera are within 10 minutes drive. There are a whole host of restaurants to suit all budgets within easy reach. Personal favourites include O Alambique (5 mins on the road to Silves - more expensive), Lionels (in Algoz - good value for a family) and O Barradas near Silves (lovely outdoor setting) to mention just a few.

“Our first visit to the Algarve - what an introduction. Wow!” Having had a wonderful holiday this year at Branxholme Howe in Scotland we had a pretty good idea that Vila Luisa would be similarly well appointed but when we arrived it did what every holiday villa should do, but unfortunately in our experience many don't, it made us all go 'Wow, what a place!... this is going to be a great holiday' Location, location, location. Only 40 minutes from Faro airport, 20 minutes from the coast and 10 minutes from Silves for easy shopping and a raaaange of eating places. Vila Luisa is located on a gentle hillside with a wonderful view over a broad valley which lights up at night and it stands on its own in a very quiet and private location. The sense of peace and relaxation is overwhelming. Our holiday started the moment we arrived when we were greeted warmly by Lidia a local Portugese lady with excellent English who, along with her husband, manages the property. What Lidia doesn't know about the area and where you should go and when you should go and how you should get there it not worth knowing. She is an amazing mine of enthusiastic information - but she should do be because she was born nearby and she loves her region. Having Lidia to call on during the week was a real bonus. With a wonderful swimming pool and such great facilities there were often days when we felt that we didn't want to leave Vila Luisa. When we did venture out we found great beaches within easy reach, a wonderful water adventure park (Aqualand) which our kids loved and mountains just behind where there were great walks and spectacular views. This was the sunshine holiday we needed and the excellent standard of facilities which I now come to expect of any property mangaged by Ian. Would we go back? You bet we will.

“Peace and Quiet in Algarve” We (family of 4 with two teenage children) had a wonderful weeks stay in this idyllic property. The property is well equipped with plenty of space inside and out side. Everything was very clean and as expected having read the description. Villa Luisa has an excellent pool of decent size and also very clean. The property itself is in a very quiet area with views towards the coast. Whilst about 20 mins drive to the nearest coast, it is ideally situated to explore western, central and eastern areas of the Algarve, together with the hills inland. Car hire is essential! We were greeted on arrival by a local English speaking Portugese lady who left her phone number in case we needed any assistance, and the property owner was also very helpful, replying to e-mails timely. I would definitely recommend this property..
