Lying deep in the heart of Andalucia, with stunning views from every window, Cortijo Huerto is easily reachable along a short track of road, just off the main road running between Granada and Cordoba with Jaen and Malaga being readily accessible. This region of southern Spain is steeped in charm and soaked in history with so many amazing places in Andalucia (plus Gibraltar and Morocco) to discover as well.

Amazingly light and airy, having been sympathetically decorated and well maintained to a very high standard, by its owners who live in the main part of the house. Cortijo Huerto has a modern, fresh and stylish feel, yet has been able to retain all its traditional charm and character throughout, with original exposed beams, some terracotta tiled floors and high ceilings.

A delightful and charming retreat and although set in a calm and peaceful rural location, Cortijo Huerto is not at all isolated, being within easy walking distance of the local village of Ermita Nueva in one direction, which has a few small shops, some bars and restaurants, and in the other direction there is also a bar and restaurant too.

Nearby to Cortijo Huerto are the popular towns of Alcala La Real which is just 8 minutes (10 kilometres) away and Alcaudete which is about 25 minutes (35 kilometres away) both with many types of shops, lively bars and cafes, a variety of restaurants and some international banks. Plus there is a weekly bustling market in both places (on Tuesday in Alcala la Real and on Saturday in Alcaudete) and a good choice of well stocked supermarkets too.

The surrounding area close by to Cortijo Huerto is ideal for walking, cycling, painting, horse-riding, golfing, photography, bird-watching and much more. With the stunning coastline and the beautiful beaches along the Mediterranean Sea and the snow capped mountains and ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada are all within easy reach.

Sitting on a slight incline, Cortijo Huerto commands a superb position, with fantastic vistas of fields with olive groves and a red wine grape vineyard and the gentle rolling hills of the surrounding Sierra Sur countryside. And, as most of Spanish living is engaged outside, the fantastic enclosed private courtyard area incorporates the large main sun terrace and swimming pool.

Cortijo Huerto can sleep up to a maximum 4 Guests (plus one 1 Infant). If taken as a Suite with 1 Guest Bedroom, the accommodation can sleep up to 2 Guests and 1 Infant. If taken as a Suite with 2 Guest Bedrooms the accommodation can sleep up to 4 Guests plus 1 Infant.

Simply the ideal place for a relaxing holiday, whilst basking in the sunshine under blue cloudless skies or breathing in the clear and fresh country air, Cortijo Huerto offers an amazing location, yet without the hustle and bustle of a seaside resort or the urgency of a sprawling town or city, so as to “Live the Dream” of the “Real Spain”.

The Andalucia region

With large expanses of gentle dreamlike landscapes and olive groves (harvesting excellent olive oil) stretching to the horizon, Jaen Province also features many outstanding examples of Iberian art, churches, cathedrals, palaces and castles built in the Gothic, Renaissance or Baroque style.

Although the towns and villages around Jaen Province and the city of Jaen itself have their own character, mystical charm, delightful sights and pleasant Mediterranean climate, it is the amazing and historical places that surround Jaen Province in Andalucia that add and enhance a visit to this region of Andalucia.

Places such as Cordoba being the city of history with impressive architectural sights and historical city centre; Granada with its rich colonial heritage, awe inspiring palace and gardens with fantastic mountain backdrop of the Sierra Nevada and its vibrant night life.

Also Malaga, with its privileged geographic situation which has attracted travellers, merchants, settlers and warriors, all leaving their mark on what is now a cosmopolitan, universal, open, relaxed and hospitable coastal city, and last, but not least, Sevilla being the artistic, cultural and the financial capital of not only Andalucia but the whole of southern Spain.

Alcala La Real

Within easy walking distance of Cortijo Huerto is the local village of Ermita Nueva, which has a few small shops and some bars and restaurants and in the other direction there is also a bar and restaurant too. The popular town of Alcala la Real is located just 8 minutes (10 kilometres) away from the property, with a good choice of well stocked supermarkets and many shops, lively bars and a variety of restaurants, some international banks, plus a weekly bustling market and sporting facilities too.

Alcala la Real is situated in the south of Jaen Province on the border with Cordoba and Granada, on a wide plain, dominated by the famous Castle on La Mota Hill, in the centre of a mountainous region covered with olive groves. The city with an urban design of Arab origin, has steep streets full of whitewashed houses and palatial houses all bursting with surprises, stunning churches with architectural details, all being examples of its splendour and rich historical past.
