The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The town of Albufeira is hugely popular and it's easy to understand why. It has beautiful beaches, a new marina, cafes, bars and restaurants to cater for every taste. Villa Pauline is located to the east near the famous 'strip' in Areias de São João, where nightclubs, discos and bars come to life in the evening. There is always lots going on in this lively area and there is a huge selection of places to shop, eat and drink! A car really isn't necessary, as you will find all amenities close by. A 'tourist train' runs from the 'strip' into Albufeira 'old town' every 20 minutes and will cost about 2€; if you don't fancy the walk to or from the beach - a taxi will only cost around 4€. For a fun day out try Aqualand or Slide and Splash Water Parks within 20 minutes drive. Cliff Richard Vineyard tours is also just 10 minutes away. Excursions can be booked with transport for all day trips.
The Albufeira / Santa Eulalia, Albufeira area
One of the many attractions of the Algarve is that the range of diversions and entertainment should keep everyone in the party happy. For those who like to relax, there is of course the nearby beach for a spot of sunbathing or a dip in the sea - and it’s worth noting that many of the larger beaches are manned by lifeguards in high season - great for families. The beach fronts are clean and well kept, with cafes, bars and other attractions alongside so you’ll never have to move far from your spot of sand for drinks and refreshment.
For those who enjoy a few rounds of golf, The Algarve has a number of excellent courses, and there are also sports facilities such as tennis courts, crazy golf, horse riding, cycling tracks, walking routes and a wealth of water sports such as diving, sailing and water skiing. If you enjoy nightlife, the nearby Albufeira ’strip’ is a 2 minute walk and is full of international restaurants, cool bars, cosy cafes and terrace ice-cream bars, souvenir shops and quirky bakeries and well stocked supermarkets for those on self-catering holidays.

Four girls stayed here for a week in June 2011. The apartment is in a great location with numerous beautiful beaches within walking distance. Each beach we visited had beach bars which served lovely food at very reasonable prices. The strip is only a 5 minute walk if you're looking for a fun night! The old town is a 5 euro taxi ride, you can walk the cliff top path but would only walk it in daylight! The old town is crammed full of restaurants and bars and I can honestly say we never had one bad meal the whole week. El Rancho is a great restaurant in the old town. The apartment is very spacious, clean and it was like home from home. We had fantastic weather and would definitely recommend this apartment. Gerard the owner is a really friendly guy and nothing is too much bother for him. All in all fantastic holiday and we will be back! |

Review September 2010
We stayed at Apartment Biscos at the start of September 2010. As two young couples, the apartment was a perfect setting for our holiday. The apartment was extremely spacious and very well looked after. It felt like a home from home. The kitchen was brilliant and had everything that you would need for a weeks self catering holiday. The bedrooms were large with lots of great storage and the bathrooms were very clean, well equipped with lovely showers - much needed after a sandy day at the beach! The aircon was fantastic which was much appreciated in the 30 degree heat. The apartment also had a large veranda area at the back that was great for relaxing and eating outside. The complex itself was attractive, very well looked after and a quiet setting away from all the busier touristy areas. The pool area was brilliant - very large and secure with sunbeds provided although they were not always needed as there is a large grassy area to relax on. There was a small snack bar which was good for drinks and ice lollies etc but not for meals.
The location of the apartment was great. A short walk to a lovely beach with another snack bar and sun loungers. The strip was a mere 5 minute walk away with lots and lots of great bars and restaurants to choose from. Albufiera has a more family feel to it than some resorts we had been to previously which meant that we could have fun but relaxing nights out. I recommend the Sizzling Stone restaurant which was about 3 minutes walk away - they do the best surf and turf I have EVER tasted! The Old Town is about a half hour walk away or a very short taxi ride away which never cost us more than 5 Euros. The Old Town is definitely worth a visit with lots of entertainment, bars and restaurants and nice shops that sold a variety of gifts and gorgeous silver jewellery. The Three Crowns Restaurant in the Old Town was fantastic, I would recommend that to anyone for a pictoresque setting and great food. The beaches in between and including the apartment and the Old Town are all fantastic - we visited nearly all of them during our week. There are plenty of places to book day trips ranging from Jeep Safaris and boat trips.
We could not have asked for anything more for our week away - a gorgeous setting with a comfortable place to go home to every night. Our trip was made perfect by the help of the owner Gerard. He was always at the end of the phone and extremely nice and welcoming and very helpful - which came in handy when our flight home was cancelled by EasyJet! His quick response made sorting everything out so much easier.
All four of us would absolutely stay there again with no hesitation - Thanks Gerard!!'
Review July 2010
We thought the apartment was very spacious, clean and private, with everything we needed inside and out. Shops, pools and beautiful beaches just a short walk away and only about 20 mins walk from the strip if we wanted lively night life. The apartment is in a quiet area and is a convenient base for exploring what Albufiera has to offer. There is a lovely beach only 10-15 mins walk away, it is a nice walk, however it is down a very steep hill and less mobile people may struggle. My favourite beach we visited was a little further if you walk to I meant to put Santa Eulalia not Praia Da Oura, a lady came along the beach selling doughnuts which we thought was great and delicious!
We got the tourist train from the Strip which runs to the The Old town about every 30 mins, The Old Town also has the lovely Fisherman's beach but the town is livelier and more interesting after 7pm in the evening. We would recommend a visit to the Zoomarine expecially for those with children, however, take care to shop around for tickets and transport, we found the hotel price was higher than local agents and we did not get a full day there so didn't get to see everything. The park is open until 7.30pm but the coach picked us up at 4pm so it was a big rush around on a very hot day.
Gerard was only a telephone call away if we had any questions and a lovely lady came to our assistance and was very helpful, she showed us how to get to the pool and the beach. (which are literally a few mins away) The apartment is 5*. There is a nice sea view from the front of the apartment but the terrace overlooks the rear.
Many thanks to Gerard for looking after us. Simon, Kerry (plus bump), Erin (10) and Tom (7)
I was one of a group of five girls that stayed in Quinta Pedra in early September. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Albufeira. When we arrived at Faro airport, the transfer (arranged for by the apartment owner) was there waiting for us. Half an hour later and we were in Albufeira - it was that easy!
The apartment was lovely and very well furnished - just as it looks in the photos with a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and digital TV. The two bedrooms are very spacious with a door in each leading out to the terrace and the bathrooms are very clean.
The swimming pool was a few minutes walk from the apartment (key access), which was also very nice with a children's swimming pool, a main pool and a snack bar, ideal for cold drinks, ice creams and snacks but as it is only manned by one person not so good for lunch. There are a few cafes a short walk from the apartment, including Solcaffe that is a stones throw away, that serve good food. The pool tended to get quite busy in the afternoon but getting sun loungers was not usually too much of a problem. The beautiful, sandy beach was only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, although the hill on the way back is a bit of a killer in the heat but not too bad!
I would definitely recommend making a trip to the old town. A taxi cost around 5 euros or you could take the tourist train which goes from the strip but it takes a bit longer. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars and the beach again is stunning. We ate in a beautiful restaurant on the beachfront where the food was amazing! There are also lots of market stalls for a bit of shopping.
The 'strip' is a five minute walk with lots of lively bars and restaurants, open til all hours. Having said that, we thought the best restaurants were away from the strip. I would recommend Paulos Pizza and a lovely Chinese restaurant, both a short walk from the apartment. Everything about booking the apartment was hassle-free and the apartment owner gave us lots of tips as to what to see and do in Albufeira, and places to eat nearby (with directions), which was especially helpful as we had an evening flight and didnt get to Albufeira until 10pm.
All in all the apartment is ideally located for exploring the Albufeira area and is a lovely home away from home.
