The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The town of Albufeira is hugely popular and it's easy to understand why. It has beautiful beaches, a new marina, cafes, bars and restaurants to cater for every taste. Villa Pauline is located to the east near the famous 'strip' in Areias de São João, where nightclubs, discos and bars come to life in the evening. There is always lots going on in this lively area and there is a huge selection of places to shop, eat and drink! A car really isn't necessary, as you will find all amenities close by. A 'tourist train' runs from the 'strip' into Albufeira 'old town' every 20 minutes and will cost about 2€; if you don't fancy the walk to or from the beach - a taxi will only cost around 4€. For a fun day out try Aqualand or Slide and Splash Water Parks within 20 minutes drive. Cliff Richard Vineyard tours is also just 10 minutes away. Excursions can be booked with transport for all day trips.
Albufeira / Santa Eulalia, Albufeira area
One of the many attractions of the Algarve is that the range of diversions and entertainment should keep everyone in the party happy. For those who like to relax, there is of course the nearby beach for a spot of sunbathing or a dip in the sea - and it’s worth noting that many of the larger beaches are manned by lifeguards in high season - great for families. The beach fronts are clean and well kept, with cafes, bars and other attractions alongside so you’ll never have to move far from your spot of sand for drinks and refreshment. For those who enjoy a few rounds of golf, The Algarve has a number of excellent courses, and there are also sports facilities such as tennis courts, crazy golf, horse riding, cycling tracks, walking routes and a wealth of water sports such as diving, sailing and water skiing. If you enjoy nightlife, the nearby Albufeira ’strip’ is a 2 minute walk and is full of international restaurants, cool bars, cosy cafes and terrace ice-cream bars, souvenir shops and quirky bakeries and well stocked supermarkets for those on self-catering holidays.

Guestbook for Albufeira Apartment
Myself, my wife and our two daughters (7 and 4) stayed in Quinta Pedra for two weeks in June this year and we loved it. This was our first time to visit albufeira and it won't be our last.
Location This apartment is only about a half hour taxi journey from Faro (which is a very quiet airport compared to the zoo that Dublin is) It's about a 5 minute walk to the bottom of the strip, where all the bars, restaurants and shops of a typical holiday resort are. This is handy because there are some great restaurants there (would recommend the Sizzling Stone!)
Nearby Facilities About 20 metres from the front door brings you outside the apartment complex and you immediately have a host of shops, restaurants and bars, including some cracking ones. We usually had a mid morning breakfast in Neto's or the Rockline bar. There are two hotels, the new Quinta Pedra, onsite and the Oura Praia across the road. These were great for getting information about excursions, chemist, etc. We treated them as our holiday rep and they were very happy to oblige. The food in Neto's restaurant in Portuguese and absolutely superb and very reasonable. Service is slow but if you are not in a hurry its excellent. There is a Chinese there which is fabulous and a bit further up the road are several other restaurants, including a great Italian bistro type Pizzeria (Paulos, I think). The Rockline is a great bar, not especially swish but really lively at night. There are about 5 or 6 bars in a row and they all have entertainment every night. As it’s a little bit away from the strip, it was great for us and the kids.
Pool / Beach There is a lovely pool, exclusively for apartment guests (it has key access). It's about 100 metres from the apartment and was never really busy. It seems to get a lot of Portuguese at the weekend, I think it's because a lot of them use the complex as holiday homes and they are empty during the week. The pool is spotless, there is a decent size adult and a great children's pool. There are any amount of sunbeds, no matter what time you come at, and you can lie beside the pool or in the gardens beside it. There is also a little playground at the bottom of the pool area (Swing//Slide etc). There is a small restaurant beside the pool (not great really, handy for a beer or ice cream). The beach is about 5 minutes down the hill, and about a 15 minute walk back up the hill. It's very very nice and great for walking on. The kids loved it here. I had seen a lot of travel websites raving about this beach and I could see why.
The apartment It looks relatively new and we had no issues at all. It's brilliant. The kitchen is full (Fridge/Freezer, Cooker, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Microwave,. It was like being at home. The bedrooms are lovely, comfortable and spotless. The sitting room area is at the end of the Kitchen/Dining room and has leather suites and a large plasma with Sky (a Godsend for the kids) and a DVD. The bathroom is very large, spotless and the en suite is the same. Both are top notch. Outside is a patio area, surprisingly quiet as its on the ground floor. We saw very few people passing by when we were out there. I don’t know but I suspect the owners stay there a lot themselves, such is the quality of the furniture, fitting, electrical stuff etc.
I'm not sure what else I can tell you. I could not find a fault with this place, the owner was easy to deal with as well. If it’s a family holiday everything is there, for a couple you are right beside everything without being slap bang in the middle. If it’s a girlie holiday there is plenty of room for all of you to spend four hours getting ready! No matter what everything is right beside you and there are any amount of taxis, they all seem to charge €5 no matter where we went. We even got the bus to the Old Town in Albuferia one night as it stopped right outside the complex. Regards, Alan Hanlon Kildare Ireland
I was one of a group of five girls that stayed in Quinta Pedra in early September. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Albufeira. When we arrived at Faro airport, the transfer (arranged for by the apartment owner) was there waiting for us. Half an hour later and we were in Albufeira - it was that easy!
The apartment was lovely and very well furnished - just as it looks in the photos with a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and digital TV. The two bedrooms are very spacious with a door in each leading out to the terrace and the bathrooms are very clean.
The swimming pool was a few minutes walk from the apartment (key access), which was also very nice with a children's swimming pool, a main pool and a snack bar, ideal for cold drinks, ice creams and snacks but as it is only manned by one person not so good for lunch. There are a few cafes a short walk from the apartment, including Solcaffe that is a stones throw away, that serve good food. The pool tended to get quite busy in the afternoon but getting sun loungers was not usually too much of a problem. The beautiful, sandy beach was only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, although the hill on the way back is a bit of a killer in the heat but not too bad!
I would definitely recommend making a trip to the old town. A taxi cost around 5 euros or you could take the tourist train which goes from the strip but it takes a bit longer. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars and the beach again is stunning. We ate in a beautiful restaurant on the beachfront where the food was amazing! There are also lots of market stalls for a bit of shopping.
The 'strip' is a five minute walk with lots of lively bars and restaurants, open til all hours. Having said that, we thought the best restaurants were away from the strip. I would recommend Paulos Pizza and a lovely Chinese restaurant, both a short walk from the apartment. Everything about booking the apartment was hassle-free and the apartment owner gave us lots of tips as to what to see and do in Albufeira, and places to eat nearby (with directions), which was especially helpful as we had an evening flight and didnt get to Albufeira until 10pm.
All in all the apartment is ideally located for exploring the Albufeira area and is a lovely home away from home.
