Located on a plot of 4 acres with mature garden with plenty of shade from pine trees,hedged and walled for total privacy Brick BBQ and garden furniture. Shops, bars and restaurants are within walking distance. The nearest beach (Castelo) is 450 yards. Free internet provided and transfers from and to airport.

Paderne - Paderne is a parish within the municipality of Albufeira. The ruins of the former Moorish castle are worth a visit.

The earliest origins of Albufeira go back as far as pre-historic times; it was later occupied by the Romans, who called it Baltum. The name of Albufeira goes back to the times of the Moorish occupation Al-Buhera when it became an important trading port in the 8th. century. Today only the tiled information panel at the location of the former doorway to the Moorish castle reminds to that period.

Albufeira was finally taken from the Moors by the knights of the Order of Santiago (St. James) in the middle of the 13th. century. It was then a fishing village for many centuries and was granted its charter on 20th. August 1504 by D. Manuel I.

One of the cities most affected by natural disasters, it was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake.

From the 1960s, Albufeira began to be visited by tourists from all over the world, and became one of the biggest tourist centres of present times.

Golf - Salgados is already one of the symbols of the Portuguese golf. In fact, the proximity of the sea and the variety of lakes make this a very interesting test of golfing skills.

I just wanted to let you know that we had a lovely time at Casa Nova. The villa, and pool, were just perfect for us to wind down and relax. A thankyou to your gardener who clearly maintains a high standard.

(For future reference for visitors it would be a good idea to tell them that on a Wednesday the linen is changed)

Of course you must visit our beautiful Scottish Borders just south of Edinburgh!
