The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The Algarve has long been established as the golfing capital of Europe. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. The lovely sandy beaches, the ideal climate gives all year round enjoyment for everyone from all walks of life.
The Algarve stretches across the whole of southern Portugal. Its name is from the Arabic El-Gharb meaning "west". Remarkably, although the Algarve has been occupied by the Moors for 600 years, with the exception of some city and castle walls in Silves and Tavira, there are few reminders around. All houses in the Algarve are still built with typical arabic chimneys. The Romans left several bridges and ruins from their time there.
Albufeira / Corcovada area
Albufeira, Portugal’s most popular resort, has been described as the ‘Tourist Capital’ of the Algarve, spreading along the coast from the old town in the west toward Vilamoura in the east. There are sandy coves and golden beaches which draw an assorted crowd, from families with young children to retired couples. Everyone finds something to enjoy here which retains its old world charm in narrow alleyways behind the new hip and happening. In the eastern part of the town lies the Rue Candido dos Reis or, better known locally as ‘The Strip’, which runs from the Montechoro Hotel down to the beach, the Praia da Oura. This area is lined with dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars. In contrast, the old town of Albufeira has a special charm all of its own, with its sleepy cobbled side streets and alleyways that criss cross the town, many of them converging in the main square which at night comes alive with the throng of people, music, lights, sounds and aromas of the many restaurants and bars.

Guestbook for Parque da Corcovada
Hi Ron & Rene
Your apartment was everything that we expected and more, your photos on the net don't give it justice! The rooms were spotless which is a huge bonus for us as we felt immediately at home, the location of your apt was brilliant as we could pop in and out from the pool for snacks etc, or keep an eye on the children from the balcony.
Thank you once again, we really enjoyed staying at Corcovada.
Best wishes
Jackie, Phil & Boys

Thanks, we had a great time. The apartment was very good. The size and quality was very good. The appliances were excellent. It was also clean. The collection to and from the airport worked very well too.
Kind Regards
Gordon

I know it's a few weeks ago now but I just wanted to say a few words about your apartment. My thoughts were that it was an extremely pleasant stay both inside and out, the whole complex was nice and inside it was very nicely furnished and well equipped. I was very impressed.
The only other thing which I would say was the map you sent us assumed you could get quite close without getting lost as we somehow managed to do! We ended up at Lidl's (which was very cheap even by British Lidl standards) and asked for directions. However we struggled to find anyone who knew where the Globe roundabout was! ;-)
It wasn't a big problem, we managed to find our way round ok once we got to the apartment but it might be worthwhile creating a larger scale map which includes the N125 and A22 roads so you can basically follow it all the way. Also the other roundabouts with "landmarks" on them proved to be useful points which might be worth including on a map.
I hope this is useful to you. Thanks for sorting out the Sky TV. It was nice to have on in an evening for a bit to entertain the children before we went out (and while we enjoyed a glass of wine).
Certainly a very nice stay. I will happily recommend it to anyone I know who is thinking of going to the Algarve.
Thank you very much, Nick
