The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The algarve is blessed with over a 100 miles of golden sandy beaches with the larger ones having lifeguard patrols throughout the summer season.Most of the bigger beaches have bars,restaurants on offering cold drinks and excellent food fresh from the sea or snacks for the kids.The beaches are free to use apart from a small charge for the sunloungers and parolsols on hire most of the beaches have been awarded the blue flag of europe.The blue flag means the water is clean and the beach itself also clean for bathing and sun bathing.The main beaches also have water sports on jet skis,paragliding,kite surfing etc.The algarve is also known for its weather its links to the romans with some cities dating back to 200 bc and the moors influence in its buildings.
Albufeira / Corcovada area
Albufeira is central to most activities and has a large number of festivals throughout the year.The biggest one is the sardine festival held every august and you can sample fresh cooked sardines on numerous stalls and restaurants .Then the fado festival is held throughout july and august fado is portugals historical music and can be seen and heard across albufeira and the algarve.The beach in albufeira is of golden sand and offers both water sports and cafes,restaurants to sample the excellent food and cold drinks.Then theres fishermans beach every year it holds music festivals all summer long and has artists from all over the world attending.The biggest music concert to be held is xmas and new year with world famous Djs and musicans and singers attending.The famous Zoo Marine with its interactive dolphins and water park is only a 10 minute ride away in the zoos bus you can intereact with the dolphins for an extra charge.The village of pera has a sand festival every year starting in june ending in october entry 7 euro and artists around eurpoe and the waorl take part in sculpturing sand sculptures some two storeys tall.The marina offers daily boat trips alog the coast for sightseeing or dolphin watching and the thrill seekers day with high powered boats.The largest shopping mall is called algarve shopping and is only 5 minutes away and you can be taken by free buses that operate in and around albufeira.The shopping mall has over 75 shops bars,cafes,restaurants and a cinema which shows english speaking films in the summer.The apartment is within 5/10 minute walk from all the night life you could ask for with a vast array of bars restaurants offering the typical portugese foods and international foods from around the world.
How to get there
All major airlines fly to Faro airport in the algarve.Jet2,Easy jet,firstchoice,Airtours,British Airways,Monarch,Bmi baby,Fly thomson.We can also arrange airport transfers,car hire at discounted rates.There is a bus service that operates out of the airport that will take you to albufeira then ita a short taxi ride from the bus station to the apartment.
