The Algarve / Central Algarve region
There are about 100 sandy attractive beaches washed by the Atlantic Ocean and due to the maritime shelf and water currents the sea temperature can be often be surprisingly warm even in some of the winter months. Located on the tip of Europe with the vast ocean of the Atlantic as its southern and western border, this enviable position gives this region possibly the most unpolluted climate in the European continent.
The Algarve has been inhabited for thousands of years but the first developed society was probably the Phoenicians in 1.100 BC and then followed by the Tartessus tribe to about 600 BC. In the same century there is also evidence of a tribe by the name of "Conii" being found around the area of Vila Real de Santo António followed by another tribe named "Turduli" in the same area in 400 BC. In between these two tribes the whole area had been inhabited by a wave of Celts. Another tribe from this same period was the "Cynetes".
Albufeira / Vale de Parra area
Coast/Beach The nearest beach to Encosta resort is Gale beach which is a 20 minute walk away. You also have the beaches of Sao Rafael, Salgados and Evaristo close at hand. Parking at most of the beach areas is free although they sometimes fill quickly!!!
Golf Salgados golf course and complex is no more than 5 minutes away, you are also within easy reach of Vale de Lobo, Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago for a round of golf, you are in the heart of the Algarve with everything it has to offer a short distance away.
Travel Faro Airport is 46km from the Encosta Sao Jose complex in Vale de Parra Region of Albufeira and takes 30 minutes in a car on the motorway. Car hire is recommended but not essential as taxis are ample and the bus stop is right next to the complex taking you the the centre of the old town of Albufeira etc.
Distances Albufeira marina 3km. Albufeira Old Town 4km. Salgados Golf course 2.5km.
How to get there
The nearest Airport, Faro, is served by the majority of the Budget Airlines including, Easyjet, Ryannair, Jet2, Palmair and (If you feel brave enough) Thomsonfly!
Scheduled airlines TAP and British Airways also offer flights which in high season can be cheaper than the "budget" airlines.
Car hire is available at the airport from Yorcar (www.yorcar.com) at very reasonable rates.

This apartment has been furnished and equipped by a single male. I have used normal male thought patterns to place the items in cupboards.
Therefore the men of the family will have no difficulty in finding their way around so will be able to take over the domestic chores quite easily and give you that much needed break.

Further details outdoors: The apartment looks out onto a gardened area with Olive trees, Grape vines and plants local to the region through the patio doors of the main bedroom and living room. The terrace has full patio set, the complex is well placed for all the local shops, restaurants, bars etc. There is a communal meeting room on the complex and BBQ area, both the child and adult pools are a good size.
