The Algarve region
The Algarve / Central Algarve region / Albufeira / Galé and Salgados Beach / Vale de Parra.
The weather in the Algarve makes it suitable as an all year-round holiday destination. It has a very stable climate, which is influenced by both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. It is warm and moderate and is probably the sunniest place in Europe. Year round, flowers and vegetation grow, thanks to the region's sub tropical climate.
In the height of the summer it can get pretty hot, with temperatures in the low 30s, and while it can peak higher than this, it tends to avoid the extreme heat of the Mediterranean. Despite the temperatures, humidity is rarely a problem.
Also the seemingly ever-constant gentle Algarve sea breezes help to keep the temperature down. The mountains of Monchique, a popular excursion have thier own micro-climate and are a few degrees cooler. In the evenings the Algarve coastal breezes can occasionally make it a bit chilly, even in the summer.
One of the reasons that the Algarve is popular all year, is that there is not a lot of rainfall. During the summer you're not likely to see any, with the majority being between November and March.
Villa Lurdes has a fantastic location, between Vale de Parra and the wide but central area of Gale, just 40 minutes drive from Faro airport and a few minutes west of Albufeira, perfect for those who look for active holidays, golf, fishing, nightlife, shopping, great restaurants, family parks, water sports, culture, history, or just a nice place by pool or beach to relax and enjoy the sunny days.
There are restaurants within 300 metres from the residential area and only a few minutes walk to the beautiful secluded Lourenço beach with beach bar restaurant or Galé, owner recommends!
The Commercial Centre (visible from the villa roof terrace), cafe serving a fantastic selection of cakes and pastries, within walking distance. The Apolonia super market is only a two minutes drive.
Gale and its 5kms long stretch of sandy beach is only 1.5kms. The beach and golf course of Salgados beach is only 2 minutes drive, not to mention all the other top golf courses the Algarve has to offer all within 20-40 minutes drive. There are more beaches in the vicinity which are worth visiting, such as São Rafael and Coelho beach. Many of them have wonderful beach restaurants and snack bars (sea food recommended!) where you can enjoy the sea view and the natural beauty of the various coves and long stretches of sand.
The Albufeira marina is only a short drive away and offers a wide selection of bars and restaurants. Albufeira old town is approximately 5kms away. This is where you will find an active nightlife for the ones seeking for entertainment, or a shopping paradise for all tastes and pockets in the cobbled pedestrian streets.
Guia; famous small village for it's chicken piri piri restaurants also has the large Algarve Shopping Centre, an open air centre with free parking, open until 11pm with shops to suit all tastes, Continente supermarket and budget restaurants and cinema. There is also a bowling alley for a fun evening with the kids. There is a small market on the road into Guia on Friday mornings.
There is also a variety of water parks nearby (within a 20 kms range), including Zoomarine theme park (where you can swim with the dolphins) and through the year you will have the chance to come across several festivals, fairs and markets that area worth a visit.
