A short stroll will take you to the main shopping area of the "strip" as it is known locally where you will find typical Portuguese restaurants, bars, etc. It's a fun place to stroll through on your way home from the beach, grab an ice cream and stop at the many little shops and stalls selling their Algarvian souveniers! Albufeira is one of th Algarve's most fashionable resorts, yet it is still essentially a fishing town. Influence of the Moors who once occupied the land can still be seen in the buildings and language of the area. Apart from the almost constant sunshine, the friendliness of the locals helps to make this an unforgettable holiday experience.

The Algarve region
The Algarve has over 300 days of sunshine and this together with the friendliness of the local people makes it the ideal destination for a relaxing yet fun filled holiday. For fabulous beaches you need go no further than Albufeira. The closest beach to Parque Da corcovada is Praya d'Oura 12 min walk or Santa Eulalia beach 15 mins walk. However there is no shortage of stunning beaches all along the coastline here. Take the courtesy bus or get a very reasonable Taxi (£2-£3) to the old town and ramble through the white washed houses and cobbled streets. Take time out to enjoy Albufeira. There is no better location for sunshine, fabulous beaches, delicious inexpensive food and wine, and a warmth and welcome that's second to none!

Albufeira is well served with a great network of roads and driving is pretty easy here.. Visit such lovely places as Carvoeiro, Lagos, alvor or Tavira. Shop for terracotta pottery, shoes, leather goods. Visit Zoomarine, Slide'n Splash, Aqualand or the huge Algarve Shopping mall in Guia (10 mins by car or taxi) Play golf in Balaia 3 mins , Salgados, Pine Cliffs 2km, Vilamoura 6km Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo ,Vila Sol all short drive
