The Algarve region
The Algarve is known for its nightlife and weather but it also has a long historical history with the Moors and Spanish invaders. The area of Algarve dates back to the year 2000 BC with some beautiful towns and fishing villages.
The climate is good all the year around with over 300 days of sunshine.The Algarve is also know for its big game fishing and many beaches protected by rocks and coves.
The town of Tavira has over 37 churches and dates back to 2000bc and is influnced by the Moors and its buildings. The town has many islands that are beaches with warm and clear water.
Albufeira / Balaia Golf Village area
The famous Zoo Marine with its interactive dolphins is only 5 minutes away and close by is the yearly sand festival of Pera. The sand festival attracts artists from all over the world and starts in june and ends in october.
There are festivals all year around and the Portugese golf championship is held in Vilamoura each year. The area of Balaia offers two villages to visit within walking distance one being Olhos de Agua which also has an award winning beach.The village also has a wide variety of bars, restaurants and plenty of supermarkets.
