Home description

One of only two penthouses, in this small and friendly, purpose built, low rise holiday complex of only 52 apartments split in to two blocks. This nearly new penthouse apartment, is situated on the second floor and benefits from having no other apartments, above or to the side. The lush tropical established garden/barbeque/wooded areas and complex are fully fenced in and entrance is via power operated gates. There are also security shutters, small safe, video entryphone and a multi point locking front door, for your complete peace of mind.

This property is ideal for those looking for a very peaceful and relaxing environment whilst being close to all amenitites and the beach. The complex is at the end of a cul-de-sac so there is no passing traffic noise and the large private terrace is not overlooked. Both the apartment and main terrace stretch right from the front to the rear of the building, which means that you have views of open countryside and also to the sea.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The Algarve region is the south coast of Portugal and Albufeira and its surrounding area is regarded as the main tourist resort. The region benefits from long hot summers and mild winters and has many spectacular golden sandy beaches. A short distance inland and you can ascend the Monchique mountains which offer outstanding views across to the sea. The following is a list of possible activities that you could enjoy.

GOLF: The Algarve has a huge choice of golf courses within a short distance that are available to those on holiday. The nearest courses are Pine cliffs and Bahlia. The many well known courses of Villamoura are within an easy 15 minute drive. Good discounts are available for most courses by arranging pre-booking through a local agent and paying cash. Please ask for further details.

SHOPPING: There are two very large new out of town shopping and leisure areas. The first is at Guia (ALGARVE SHOPPING) which is about 15 minutes by car. Here you will find a very large hypermarket (CONTINENTE) and also a good variety of other shops including designer outlets. The second is on the outskirts of Faro (FORUM ALGARVE). This is quite close to the airport and has a good range of shops including an old U.K. favourite C&A. The major store here is JUMBO which is another very large hypermarket. There are traditional markets and good shopping areas in most nearby towns where you can also find local produce and goods at cheap prices. There is also a large MAKRO store opposite Algarve shopping but please be aware that even with a U.K. MAKRO card you will not be able to shop there unless you have a Portuguese tax (fiscal) number.

EATING OUT: Both of the above shopping areas have some of the largest food courts you will ever see. Most well known worldwide franchises are there including Macdonalds, Pans & Co, Burger King, KFC & Pizza Hut. These are complemented by a great many other speciality restaurants, some take away, some buffet style and some formal. For more traditional Portuguese fare the restaurants in the many coastal resorts offer a good selection where the speciality is always the local fresh fish. For those that like their home comforts there is a British bar (Tracies) offering English Food & Beer only a 5 minute walk away from the apartment in the village square.

LEISURE: Again at both of the above shopping areas there is a multiplex cinema showing latest releases mostly in English with Portuguese subtitles (best to check!). At Algarve Shopping there is also an 12 lane 10 pin bowling alley with pool and football tables and arcade games. Within 20 minutes by car you will find two large water parks with rides and slides and also MARINELAND which is a smaller version of Floridas seaworld. Here you will find many interactive marine exhibits, shows and some small fairground rides. You can also book in advance for a swim with the dolphins session, at additional cost. Another attraction mainly aimed at younger children is KRAZYWORLD. This seasonal attraction has crazy golf, petting zoo, go karts and small fairground rides. At Villamoura there is a large roman themed mini golf facility called ROMA GOLF where two very good quality 18 hole mini golf courses can be found. Villamoura also has a very nice marina area with numerous shops and restaurants.

BEACHES & WALKS: If you would like to try out some different beaches the next nearest after Olhos De Agua are MARIA LUISA (15 minute walk) and the magnificent FALESIA which is about a 10 minute drive. On the other side of Abufeira and a 20 minute drive is GALE, a personal favourite. Here there is parking with level access and a couple of very good restaurants as well as all the usual beach and watersport facilities. For walkers there are lovely clifftop walks available nearby. Further afield but within easy reach by car are the beautiful Monchique mountains and Portimao with its stunning Praia de Rocha beach boardwalk.


Albufeira / Olhos d'Agua area

The village of Olhos de Agua, although small, has an intimate feel with the beach approached via a small palm tree lined road. Along this road is a variety of small shops and businesses catering for tourists. At the end of the road there is a wide promenade and some beachfront cafes before you reach the beautiful beach. Depending on the tide the clear blue sea can be very calm or have some good waves, so both swimmers and non swimmers can enjoy it.

In the main village there are all the facilities you would need on a day to day basis i.e bank, shops, chemist, medical centre, etc. etc. There are also a number of cafes, take aways and restaurants within walking distance which cater for all tastes, including Chinese, Indian, Italian, English and Portuguese. In the main square is a very friendly English run bar called Tracies. Here they serve a good range of beers/spirits together with a large selection of English food. In season there is often live music performed in the square so you can listen while you have a drink or a meal.

Nightlife in the village is mainly low key with only a few music bars and venues for live music and these are located far enough away from the apartment so they will not disturb you. There is another friendly Portuguese run bar/restaurant at Torre de Medronheira called the 3 Marias which is only a few minutes level walk from the apartments. Under this restaurant is a bar with 3 very good large american pool tables. These are hired on meters so that you can play as long as you want.

As an alternative the very lively night time resort of Albufiera with its many clubs, bars, discos and restaurants is only 10 minutes away by bus, car or taxi. The main Olhos taxi rank, bus stop and shops are less than a 5 minute walk from the complex.

There is a very good medium sized supermarket with an ATM within 100 metres of the complex which stocks all the provisions that you would need. Also alongside this are some brand new shops. At present these include a café/bakery offering a good selection of cakes and also fresh baguettes made to order, a pay by weight restaurant, pizza take away, speciality supermarket stocking all British foods, a newspaper shop selling English newspapers/beach goods, Bank, Bar, Chemist and an Excursions booking agent. The excursions agency deals with all the major attractions in the area so this is very convenient if you wish to arrange to visit attractions or go on excursions. The agency also can arrange car hire for you. Most attractions have courtesy buses that will pick you up from the agency if you require.

Also within 15 minutes walk is the club Balaia complex. This boasts tennis courts, gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, golf driving range and a 9 hole golf couse. This is open to non residents and all the facilities can be used upon payment of the appropriate fee.

Located a 5 minute drive to the east of Albufeira, the Bosque De Sao Jose purpose built holiday apartment complex is centrally located, close to the new market and shopping precinct in Olhos de Agua. The two nearest beaches are Olhos de Agua and Maria Luisa, which are both within a short walk. Faro airport is only a 30 minute drive away. Most of the well known airlines serve Faro, from various airports within the U.K. The flight time from the U.K. is around 2.5 hours. Although there are a great many car hire companies based at Faro airport, we have found that the off airport companies offer the best prices. Even though they are off airport, they actually bring the cars to the airport for you. We recommend using the website www.economycarhire.com for arranging car hire. This agent guarantees no hidden charges and always gives you a fully inclusive price. Please bear in mind that if you decide to take a hire car over the border to Spain you must advise the car hire company. If, instead, you require private transfers, these can be arranged for around 50 Euros return for 1 to 4 passengers and 80 Euros return for 5 to 8 passengers.

This modern spacious apartment contains all you need to have a perfect holiday. There is a separate quality kitchen with high grade appliances and granite worktops, 3 good size bedrooms, a lounge/dining area with very large & comfortable sofa unit, 2 separate four piece bathrooms (both with bath and showers), 2 balconies and a large private terrace all with great views. All 3 bedrooms have 2 single beds in each and plenty of wardrobe space. The master bedroom has a dressing area leading through to an en-suite bathroom and also benefits from a further flatscreen TV with DVD player.

The lounge/dining room has two patio doors, one which leads to a small front balcony and the other that leads directly out to the very large private terrace with table, chairs and sun loungers.

There are internally operated security shutters on all windows and external doors and a video entryphone system. Combined heating/cooling Aircon units are fitted in each of the bedrooms and in the lounge/dining area.

A 32" flat screen TV is available that has the English Sky TV free channels. To this is coupled a Sony playstation 2 & DVD player. A large selection of PS2 games, DVD quizzes and films are provided, however, please feel free to bring any of your favourites with you.

Further details outdoors:
This very beautiful complex, is surrounded by well established lush tropical gardens, in which there is a purpose built barbeque complex with large communal barbeque, sink/preperation area, covered seating area and toilet. At the end of the complex, there is a large non overlooked adult swimming pool with sun loungers and also a smaller pool divided in to two sections for children. There are communal sun loungers, however, private sun loungers are also available. The outside areas of the complex are all on one level and it is possible to go for a stroll/jog right around the complex. There are also benches, at the shaded rear of the complex and also in the wooded area. Reserved underground garage parking and also additional parking under shaded canopies is available. There is lift access from the garage and the entrance lobby to the top floor of the building.


Further details

We have English managing agents, who are on hand, should you need them and upon request can meet guests upon arrival at the complex. The apartment is suitable for the elderly/less mobile, as there is a lift and no stairs need to be climbed (save for one small half step at the apartment front door). We are sorry, but we do not allow children under 5 years old, due to delicate glass furnishings, plus the apartment being on an upper floor and the complex having an unfenced pool and fish pond. Please be aware, that we do not allow smoking, anywhere within the apartment.

USE OF A PRIVATE ATTENDANT WHEELCHAIR (STORED IN THE UNDERGROUND GARAGE) IS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE, FOR THE USE OF ANY GUESTS WITH LIMITED MOBILITY.

Strictly no smoking inside the apartment. Smoking is permitted on the main terrace only.
Refundable security deposit of £150 required with balance, this is refunded within two weeks of your return home (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
Deposit of 25% of rental is required to secure abooking. The balance and security deposit is due eight weeks before your stay.
Property not suitable for children under 5.
There is a lift in the apartment building providing wheelchair access.

Just to let you know we had a lovely time staying at your beautiful penthouse apartment in Olhos D Agua, what fantastic views to the sea and countryside. The apartment was so spacious and very well equipped everything we could have needed for a great holiday. We particularly thought the large terrace was fab, great suntrap, we used it a lot for dining and sunbathing. We would have no hestiation in recommending the apartment and in fact we've been raving so much about the apartment and the village, that my sister in law and her family have decided they want to book up for a holiday there.
