About the home

The villa is one of 22 in a small gated community. It is ideal for family groups, as it is within 5 minutes walk from the beach, and there are lots of bars and restaurants close by. There is a spacious swimming pool on the site, which proved very popular with our grandchildren, and there is also a tennis court on the condo.
Even though we are quite close to the popular Strip, we are not affected by noise or any kind of disturbance, which is quite helpful when putting children to bed etc. We found that we could experience all the night life we liked, and then retreated to the comfort, peace and tranquility of our Villa, when it suited us.

The lounge / dining area is quite large and comfortable, and one of the sofas converts into a double sofa bed. The back garden has a large patio area and also a lawn and a BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining. We are close enough to walk to the beach, where there are various water based activities, and also very pleasant areas to soak up that sun!! Your holiday can be what ever you want, if you want to eat in with full kitchen facilities in the vila, relaxing in the garden, on the beach, or at the pool. There is good night life on the Strip, about 10 minutes walk from the vila, and with numerous restaurants and cafes within walking distance, most of which are very reasonable and provide good food, there is plenty of variety to suit all tastes. There is a big supermarket, Modelo, 10 minutes walk from the vila, and their selection of fresh seafood has to be seen to be believed. There is noting like barbecued fresh sea bass or golden bream, sitting on the terrace, a glass of wine (or whatever you fancy) in hand, enjoying the evening air after a hard days work.

Facilities

The vila itself has 3 comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom is en suite, and has its own balcony with sea view. The 2nd bedroom has bunk beds, and also a travel cot if necessary. The 3rd bedroom can be made up as either single beds or double bed, and has a sea view. All 3 bedrooms are upstairs. There is also a large family bathroom upstairs. Downstairs, on the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen. The lounge / dining area is large and spacious, with log fire in the lounge area. There is also a shower and wc on the ground floor, and a laundry room.
Outside, there is a barbecue, and dining area, and also 3 sun loungers. We also have 4 loungers for use either in the garden, or at the pool, its up to you!! So, should you want a relaxing, no-stress holiday, or wish to sample many of the attractions the area has to offer, it's all here for you.
We also supply a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. We can also arrange for a travel cot, buggy and / or high chair if you let us know in advance. Towels are also supplied for use in the house. Please bring your own beach/pool towels. There is a sofa bed in the lounge area, which sleeps an additional 2 people.

There is airconditioning in the bedrooms and lounge / dining area, much needed during the year.

We have a very relaxing swing seat, everyone will love it.
The back garden is completely enclosed and suitable for children.
The back garden is also south facing, getting the best of the sunshine from morning to evening.

Poolside loungers (4), which can also be used in the garden if that suits you.

Although a car is not essential there is an individual carport for each villa, and ample on street parking which is completely safe.

We offer flexibility with arrival and departure dates, we generally do not have groups arriving and leaving on the same day.

Conditions

A booking deposit is required to confirm booking, and also a refundable deposit of 250 Euros against breakages etc.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The Algarve - where the sun shines for 300 days in the year, runs along the south coast of Portugal, from the West coast to the border with Spain. The climate is excellent, temperatures during the high season are generally in the high 20's - early 30's.
Albufeira is in The Central Algarve, with easy access to the airport at Faro, and also easy access to Spain (less than an hours drive). During the summer months, a lovely breeze comes in from the Atlantic, it keeps the air fresh and comfortable along the coast.
The name Albufeira refers to the times when this part of Portugal was under Moorish rule. Albufeira is a derivative of an old Moorish name and there are lots of historical sites dotted around the Algarve. Some of the architecture in the Old Town has a distinct feel of days gone by.

The Algarve is also very popular with golfers, and luckily enough, our Villa is not far from some of the best courses. We are approximately a 15 minute taxi ride from Vila Moura, with 5 very good courses, and we are also quite close to the well known Pine Cliffs Resort and Golf to mention but a few.

You could take a trip to the many attractions, Zoomarine for example, local tour operators run buses regularly, or you could take a taxi there, it's about 20 minutes away from the villa, in Lagoa. We went to Slide 'n Splash with our daughter and her family, and had a fabulous day. A word of advice however, if you do go under your own steam, buy your tickets before you go there, as it cost us 2.50 Euros more each to buy the tickets at the door.

The Albufeira / Forte Sao Joao area

Albufeira is a beautiful town ideally situated in the Central Algarve, and a 35 minute drive from Faro airport. What was once a small fishing village is now a thriving tourist town. It still has lots of lovely old cobbled streets, away from the central area, which are great for exploring. And you will always come across a lovely little coffee shop or bar for quick snacks. A short walk from the Old Town along the coast road brings you to Forte Sao Joao, where our vila is located. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the villa to the beach, a lovely flat beach and great fun to be had in the sea, with great waves and swimming. There are also various beach and sea activities. The famous Albufeira gypsy market is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Loads of local colour, and the odd bargain thrown in!!
You can also walk along the beach to the Old Town of Albufeira, which should take less than half an hour, stroll around the Old Town, have lunch or a coffee or whatever, and then walk back along the beach, or if you feel like pampering yourself, get a taxi.
From the villa, a short walk (less than 10 minutes) brings you to the popular Montechoro Strip, with all manner of bars , restaurants, cafes, shops and entertainment. Just a walk along the Strip itself is an entertainment!
You can go to Slide and Splash, and Zoo Marine, which you can get to by pre-booking a coach, or alternatively you can take a taxi. Children have great fun in both places, and though Slide and Splash is more of a 'doing' place, adults will also enjoy themselves!

The nearest airport is Faro International Airport, and it takes approximately 35 minutes by taxi to get to the Villa. We can arrange for transfers for you, which will bring you directly from the airport to the villa.
Faro airport is served by BMIBaby, Easyjet, Ryanair and Aer Lingus, to name some.
The complex is situated close to the Tres Palmeira s roundabout, which is quite well known and easy to get to.

“Fabulous location” Fantastic position , no car necessary , beach 5 mins , main strip 5mins and old town 10-15 mins all walking distance. Very close to supermarket, bakers etc. Very comfortable modern villa in quiet residential area, 50 metres to lovely quite pool area. An abundance of local restaurants and bars. Wi-fi access at Cheers bar a few minutes from Villa run by Maria and her family who are very friendly and helpful. Visit Bar Azul on the way to the beach run by Jean Claude and his lovely wife where you should try a fresh made Mohitto refreshing and very reasonable prices. If you are looking for a holiday where you can enjoy the lively night life but retreat to peace and quiet this is the villa for you. Perfect for all age groups. Mark Youngson and family July 2011
