Our light airy apartment is extremely comfortable and welcoming, a real home from home, furnished for our own use and not just the rental market.
Air conditioning and heating is included in the price. There are two bedrooms and one main bathroom. The master bedroom with king size bed has patio doors leading onto the terrace. The second bedroom has bunk beds to accomidate 3 with a sliding patio door on to the terrace. Both have ample storage. The open plan living/dining area has a double leather sofa bed, large dining table, TV, and DVD player with surround sound in every room. The sun room is off the dining/living area with relaxing furniture to take it easy and patio doors leading out onto the biggest patio in the complex where you have a wrap around view of the surrounding village and countryside.
The modern kitchen is fully fitted with all mod cons. As well as plenty of crockery and utensils (enough for full family cooking if you really want to!), you will find soap, dishwasher tablets, towels, toilet rolls and all bed linen are provided. Just bring your own beach towels. if requested our English manager will call every few days to replace the towels and will change the bed linen once a week. We also provide a washing machine, airers and an iron for your personal laundry.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The summer months see high temperatures that attract beach-goers and sun-lovers from around the world.
With more hours of sunshine than California and only short periods of rainfall, generally between November and March, the Algarve has the perfect weather and climate for tourism.
The maximum temperatures in the Algarve fluctuate between 15 and 31 °C. In the 1960s the Algarve became a very popular destination for tourists, mainly from Britain. It has since become a common destination for the Germans and the Dutch. Many of these tourists own their own property in the region. There are Algarve-based English-written publications and newspapers specifically addressed to this community. In addition to the natural beauties and plenty of beaches, the Algarve has invested in the creation of a network of golf courses. Well-known beaches in the Algarve range from Praia da Luz to Armação de Pêra.
The Albufeira / Vale de Parra area
The Algarve is famous for its golf courses, beautiful coastline and beaches. The nearest golf to the apartment is the course at Salgados that is just a few minutes away. The choice of beaches is endless, from long sandy stretches backed with dunes to small rocky coves, some with little beach bars where you can have a leisurely lunch of barbecued sardines with a glass or two of local wine. There is a famous wetlands nature reserve nearby with an array of beautiful birds.
There are some exciting water slide parks within a five minute drive as well as the famous Zoo Marine with its wonderful dolphins. Zoo Marine is one of the only venues in Europe where you can swim with the dolphins and watch a movie in a 4D cinema, its incredible!
There are many restaurants, bars and clubs to be found in Albufeira, a short five minute car journey away.

Driving Directions: From Faro airport take the A22 motorway towards Lagos for approx 25 minutes until you see signs for Guia. When you reach Guia follow signs for Salgados Golf Course (EN1281), approx 3 km form Guia, the apartment is along the way. The apparment is in Vale De Parra on the round-about intersecting roads EN1281 and EN526
Taxi to albufeira from apartment approx €8.50
Car hire- Avis, easyjet, travelsupermaket. (we have used all of these and all relatively inexpensive, depending on the time of the year)
There are a few car hire companies, close to the apartment complex if you want to hire when you get there. This does however work out more expensive than pre-booking

We had a great holiday. Would not agree location is at largest roundabout in town. Its a very quiet area. Sun room is brilliant. Air con a real treat. Built in radio system. Dishwasher, fridge freezer and basically everything you would have at home, which is ideal when travelling with young children. Gale beach is just breath taking and within walking distance. The chipper 100 yards away will prepare chicken piri piri chips and salad for 5 adults for €20 which we enjoyed on the very large balcony in the evenings. Fernando is just across the street for a drink in the evening. Shops very close for groceries but we stocked up on arrival at Albuferia Shopping Centre which is quiet close too. There are large art pieces on all roundabouts which make it easy to find your way around. Would recommend this apartment.

Stayed for 10 days over August/Sept 2011. We were really looking forward to staying in an apartment which had been described as 'luxurious topfloor'. On arrival we were very disappointed to realise the huge balcony was right on top of the busiest roundabout in town which obviously isn't mentioned in the listing. The traffic noise wasn't too bad at night but in the day it was horrendous so not much point trying to have a sunbathe after a long day out exploring!
The apartment itself would have been perfect if it wasn't for this. Also there was no soap, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, washing up liquid etc provided as the listing states. We aren't used to having to buy things like that on holiday! Not really a massive problem but worth noting.
Washing machine was a massive bonus though, nice to be able to wash beach towels etc.
Also the air con was heavenly!
Car hire is essential if you are staying here as you aren't near anything. Few restaurants within walking distance, best one by far was the little Italian place where all the staff were really friendly and the food was the best we had in Portugal.
The owner (Fabian) was very helpful when I kept asking him questions and didn't seem to mind me asking silly questions (I was a bit nervous having never booked an apartment holiday before).
To sum up - this was a good holiday but not great. I wouldn't stay in Vale De Parra again if we ever came back to Portugal. But then I'm not sure we ever would come back to Portugal as it wasn't exactly what we were expecting.

Apart from the noise issue I'm glad to hear from your review that everything else was to your liking. I use the apartment each year for my own holiday break with my family and have never been bothered by the traffic noise. this apart has everything you need for a self catering break, the washing machine was really handy and decorated to a high standard. we were 10 mins from nearest town of aubuferia which has lots of places to eat n shops.
we were 5mins drive from gale beach and was fantastic the kids 10 11 12 loved the waves and sand
there is zoomarine within 10 mins drive which has lots of shows n the diving and dolphins are a must see. a water park again 10 mins away which we loved oh and the kids did too.........the apart is very smart clean complex n very secure with under ground parking which is a god send in the mid august heat...cannot love this place anymore, was huge with the best balcony n sun room ever, we spent all our time out there drinking superbock the local beer till late at night. it is on a roundabout but not noisey enough to bother anyone really.......i would not hesitate to book again and will be doinf so for next year x
