The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The Algarve is known for its sunny climate, great sea food and wine. Miles of beautiful sandy beaches and rugged coastline and ideal for cliff walks. Europe's premier Golf area, the nearest golf courses at Salgados 2km away. The Pine Cliffs Resort 6 km just the other side of Albufeira, or choice of no less than 1st class courses at Vilamoura 25 minutes drive.
Visit the village of Guia 2.5km away, where you can savour the famous chicken piri-piri and Sir Cliff Richard's vineyards, which is open to the public. Algarve Shopping Mall has a huge selection of shops, bowling alleys, food hall and 9 screen cinema, most films are spoken in English.
Albufeira / Sao Rafael area
Albufeira marina provides numerous events throughout the summer. Boating enthusiasts should visit the marina, where sailing and fishing excursions can be booked. Especially recommended are the trips to explore the local caves and unusual rock formations dotted around this coastline. Albufeira Town is not to be missed, with its varied nightlife and excellent restaurant, stunning coble streets, leathershops etc. Treat your family to a fun day Zoomarine and many more water parks.
How to get there
Fly to Faro, flight time 2hrs 40 minutes, transfer time to Sao Rafael 40 minutes Book early for great prices with easyjet, British Airways and Monarch from most Uk airports. Thomsonfly from Bournemouth. Local Taxis are available at the airport, should cost no more than 50 €uros. Many car hire companies are based at the airport.
