The Algarve / Central Algarve region
Close to the villa you will find the Montechoro strip, this long street runs north/south through the resort and contains everything you could possibly want during your stay. It is lined by many bars, restaurants, bureau de exchange points, supermarkets, souvenir shops, boutiques, ice cream parlous, information points, bike & car hire. You name it, you will find it somewhere on the Strip.
The Strip culminates at a steep hill that finishes at Praia da Oura or Golden Beach. As the name suggests this is a golden sandy cove, shelving gently into the cool Atlantic ocean. There are sun beds and parasols for hire here and the water sports school will keep the more active occupied.
Whatever type of holiday you enjoy you are well catered for in Albuferia. All eating tastes are accounted for with hundreds of restaurants to choose from. You can sample the local cuisine or enjoy dishes from all corners of the world. Albufeira even offers those fast food establishments that we know well from home. If you are cooking yourself there are a multitude of different supermarkets to choose from. From the small specialist to large hypermarkets that sell simply everything.
If you are looking for an active nightlife, then you'll be spoilt for choice with many different bars to sample and nightclubs that pulsate into the early hours every night and attract some of Europe's top DJs.
Albufeira / Vale de Pedras area
Albufeira is filled with shops, bars and restaurants, perfect for when you want to explore the nightlife! During the day explore the area's beautiful architecture. There is the castle, buildings that retain their Moorish arches and plenty of churches.
This is a great holiday destination for those that just want to relax and soak up the sun, but the more active will be kept happy with watersports on offer. There are some great family days out nearby - the waterslide park and zoo marine are a short drive away.
How to get there
From the airport you follow the signs Portimao/lisboa, after 8km you take turn N125 Almancil, stay on N125 and after aprox 30km you see the sign for Albufeira. Go straight until you see a roundabout, you go straight and after 1km you get another roundabout, you turn right, follow this road about 1 km till you get a T-junction, go left here. After about 700 metres there is a school on the corner (escula das Lapies), there you turn right and after 90 metres you see Casa Susanna on your right.
