Home description

This delightful 3 bedroom Portuguese style semi-detached house is perfectly located a few kilometres west of Albufeira, near to São Rafael and Coelha beaches. It sits well back from the road in its own private garden which contains a good sized kidney shape pool surrounded by lawn, bushes and trees. There is a fixed outdoor covered area with a barbecue ideal for al fresco dining.

The accommodation itself is cool, spacious and well equipped. It sleeps 6-8 people. There is a sofa bed in the lounge if required.

Beaches and restaurants are within easy walking distance – the beautiful coves of São Rafael and Coelha being less than 10 minutes and just a few steps away there is a mini market and café.

If you want some relative peace and quiet, near to beaches and restaurants, but also to be within easy reach of Albufeira for something more lively when the mood takes you then this is the ideal place.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The Algarve is one of the sunniest places in Europe, with over 3,000 sunshine hours per year. The summers can be hot, but there is usually a refreshing breeze by the coast. Spring and Autumn is an ideal time for outdoor pursuits, such as golfing, biking, walking. The winters are mild and very often sunny, but do expect a few rainy days any time between October and March.

The Atlantic coastline offers a spectacular variation of scenery from dramatic limestone cliff formations surrounding tiny coves, to long, flat, sandy beaches ideal and safe for family holidays.

Go inland, and the mountains of Monchique provide a totally different viewpoint (and on some days a totally different climate) to the coastal areas. The terrain here makes it ideal for all types of activities, from off–road biking, hiking and quad biking to walking and simply enjoying the spectacular scenery.

The western facing side of the Algarve is certainly worth a visit. The beaches are beautiful and clean and the scenery fantastic – but be prepared for more wind and colder water! A favourite spot for windsurfers.

Go east of Faro and you will find the Ria Formosa, a protected part of the coast cut off from the sea by sand–spits, forming large areas of marshlands and lagoons teeming with wildlife.

Further east beyond Tavira the coast runs off towards Spain with mile after mile of Golden flat sand.


Albufeira / Sao Rafael area

São Rafael is located about 4km west of Albfeira. It is a quiet, relaxing area with a good selection of restaurants and bars. The area hosts some of the best beaches (in our opinion) on the southern side of the Algarve. In the immediate area of the villa, there are about 7 to choose from, plus some small coves only accessible by foot. Coelha is the closest, less than a 10 minute walk or so. This is a beach backed by high cliffs with a beach bar/restaurant and if you like walking there is a good cliff top walk. About the same distance in the opposite direction and you will come to Arrifes (São Rafael). A few minutes in a car will bring you to Castelo, Evaristo and Lourenço, all picturesque sandy coves. After this you arrive at Galé, a wonderful long flat expanse of sand safe for children and a great place to watch the breathtaking Algarvean sunsets. For the more energetic, you can walk from Galé to Armação de Pera along the beach, a distance of some 3 or 4 kilometres. Most of the beaches have sun beds and there are a variety of water sports on offer at Galé.

About 5 minutes by car is the lively Old Town of Albufeira where there are numerous restaurants and bars, live music, shops, banks, post offices, tourist information and most things you need for your holiday in the sun. On the way you will come across Albufeira's colourful new marina which although still being developed offers a relaxing atmosphere with a few new bars and restaurants and entertainment during the summer months. It is a great place for a stroll on those long summer evenings.

For the golfers in your party Salgados, an 18 hole links course is just a 5 minute drive. The 9 hole courses of Balaia and Pinecliffs are about 15 minutes in the car. Others, such as the 5 award winning courses of Vilamoura, and in the opposite direction Vale de Milho, are no more than a 30 minute drive

Many of the Algarve’s attractions are within easy reach – Zoomarine, where you can swim with the dolphins, Water parks, Krazyworld, numerous excursions, safari trips, diving, horseriding, tennis and more.

Fly to Faro. For cheap flights look at www.skyscanners.net. This compares prices for all cheap airlines flying into Faro.

From Faro the house is approximately a 40 minute drive. We can organise car hire or airport transfers if required.

On the ground floor you will find the lounge with 2 sets of patio doors leading out onto the pool and garden area. Walk through to the back of the house and there is a separate dining room and a fully fitted and equipped kitchen. There is also a cloakroom with toilet and sink.

Upstairs there are 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 doubles and 1 twin. One of the doubles has a balcony looking out over the pool. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a bath/shower and the other with a shower.

Further details outdoors:
The south facing garden and pool area provide a perfect relaxing place for all the family - sun beds to relax on, a large grassed area for the kids (and adults) to play on, a huge palm tree providing shade if you want to get out of the sun for a while and a barbecue area (partly covered to provide a bit of shade for the cook). There are patio chairs and tables for al fresco dining.


Further details

Maid service is twice a week. Towels are changed twice and linen once a week. Guests are asked to bring their own pool/beach towels.


Conditions

On booking we ask for a 20% deposit. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your holiday. At this point a refundable damage deposit of £150 is also payable. This is refunded in full within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday, providing no damage/breakages have occurred.
