The Algarve region

Albufeira, the capital city of tourism located in the central region of Algarve, Portugal, is no exception and might as well be the best thing around when it comes to staying all day sunbathing at the beach or exploring Albufeira's surroundings, and later, of course, having the most amazing night out of your life.

The town of Albufeira in the central Algarve region of Portugal, attracts thousands of visitors every year and it's easy to understand why! There is Albufeira old town with it's pretty cobbled streets lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops; the lively nightlife in São João; Albufeira marina with it's sugar candy colored apartments and last but not least the lovely, sandy beaches. Albufeira is perfect for families, couples and singles of all ages and is central for all the tourist attractions, with the added bonus of a short transfer from Faro airport!

Albufeira, like many Algarve towns, has the remains of a castle dating from Roman times The most visible pointer to the castle remains is the Torre do Relógio (clock tower), which was built on one of the old castle towers, and is normally lit up on festive occasions.

Albufeira was a small fishing village until the arrival of tourism in the 1960s. Substantial developments since then have turned it into a major holiday resort (and probably the most popular resort in the Algarve) and today there are well over 100 Albufeira Hotels to choose from! Even with all of the developments, some of Albufeira Old Town still retains the essence of the village it once was, with narrow cobbled streets winding up and around the hillsides and typical single story houses lining the roadside, and lets not forget the many golden beaches and the Algarve itself , with plenty to choose from and visit either east or west you can find for example the islands in Olhao or Sagres rock formation and Monchique mountain traditional villages and products. Is also a wide choice of golf courses aqua parks and activities including markets.

Albufeira

Set in the popular Oura beach with all is water sports , seafront restaurants and beautiful beaches all is set for a great time.

The vibrant old town of Albufeira is a walk a way and in the immediate area 2 min walk you will find the better known by tourists as The Strip, the far-reaching avenue, which real name is Avenida Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro, connecting Montechoro and Areias de Sao Joao to Oura beach. Although the division has not been set by a physical barrier, besides a cross-walk in the middle of the avenue, the Montechoro Strip (north side) and the Albufeira Strip (south side) are quite different.

The Albufeira Strip is bustling with crowded bars, restaurants, shops, tattoo parlours and other incredible and fun venues, packed in next to each other and boasting some colorful, lively neon signs identifying the places from far ahead; the Montechoro Strip is somewhat calmer than the latter, featuring a few different stores and more gardening and green areas

Albufeira is more often than not a depiction of fun, entertainment, beach and nightlife diversion.

Albufeira, the capital city of tourism located in the center of the Algarve might as well be the best thing around when it comes to staying all day sunbathing at the beach or exploring Albufeira's surroundings, and later, of course, having the most amazing night out of your life.

Transportation in this area is not necessary all is accessible by foot but for the ones who like to go further you have a wide choice of public transports from taxis to touristic trains and double Decker buses the choice is plenty.
