Home description
Set in the quietest corner of a large holiday complex this apartment has been built to accommodate a couple who enjoy being close to the action, yet require the possibility of returning to peace and quiet in a cul-de-sac where only the sound of birds interrupts their thoughts. An enormous terrace offers the possibility of letting another guest stay overnight on a spare bed in the sheltered and enclosed diaphanous guest area. Ten minutes walk from refreshing Atlantic waves and a multitude of restaurants in the old town, a ten minute bus ride will bring you to a choice of tiny guarded and non guarded beaches set under fascinating cliffs and private bays.
Green hills and rushing streams with natural spa water are a 30 minute drive away in the Monchique area where the Romans also settled. For those who want wind and a completely unspoilt coastline the west coast is also 30 minutes drive where Blokarting can be enjoyed, the best surfing beach in Europe and of course Albufeira has more hours of clear sunshine than any other location in Europe or Asia!

The Algarve / Central Algarve region
This is the place where the highest sunshine hours are recorded in Europe. More than 3000 hours a year. Temperatures are hence higher than can be expected elsewhere. In midsummer daytime highs of 32 degrees are hot, low is 23 degrees. In midwinter an average high is 16 degrees and 3 or 4 days will drop to around 10 degrees. Rain is seldom but is usual in December or January.
The Romans settled here and established harbours to refurbish their boats as tides in the Mediterranean are not high enough to be able to lift the boats out of the water. There are numerous Roman remains all along the coast and also many archaeological sites of interest where Holy Grail remains and Templar societies have been said to exist.
Albufeira / Windmill Hill, Albufeira area
The apartment is just five minutes from a government-run internet cafe where anyone can surf for free for 30 minutes or longer if there is no one else waiting for one of six internet computers. Set in an arena specially maintained for local children and schools there is a variety of equipment and areas for playing, skating and enjoying oneself. Here are concerts and musical activities with enough supervisors to keep the children happy.
Portuguese seafood, Italian pizzas, Indian curries, Chinese spice dishes, the range is still growing as Albufeira maintains its position as favourite location in the whole of Portugal for families and singles alike for holidays. From this central location with a rental car or using cheap local busses you can reach the lush hills of Monchique and enjoy the health water which the Romans first discovered.
You can reach the wild coasts of the west where windsurfers and nature lovers home in. Or you can nip across to Spain and do some Spanish shopping, Albufeira is only 30 minutes from any part of Algarve with the car. Scooters are also available to rent as low as 75€ a week and are a cool and inexpensive way to zip around. Harley Davisons or Honda Goldwings are available for those who want to travel in style.
There are festivals each month details of which are available from the tourist office just a ten minute walk away. If you want to meet up with a whole crowd of UK people then the discos and bars of the "Strip" set between souvenir shops chip shops is the place for you, no Portuguese required here.
The regular local bus service will take you to a variety of sheltered coves and beaches, some supervised and others unsupervised but most are within reach of the excellent Portuguese newly built beach restaurants. These government regulated wooden structures have been placed to make the least impact on the natural wildlife and yet provide modern facilities such as free clean toilets and showers at cost price. Visitors have the choice of a private cove of their own or an open supervised beach with loungers and with clearly displaced timetables and prices of meals everyone will feel well catered for.
The famous resort of Vilamoura is 20 minutes drive where some of the best golf courses attract visitors from all over the world mostly due to the excellent weather in Algarve. More locally there are golf courses and putting greens sprouting up like mushrooms to cater for the demand.
The newly built harbour is just five minutes walk from the apartment where boating and fishing equipment can be rented out. Excursions on yachts, motorboats or catamarans to view the caves all along the coast to the "end of the world" at Sagres, are offered locally. Those interested in buying property can find many English-speaking agents offering plots of land for as little as £5000 or apartments for £20,000 and up. See the whole of Algarve and get a view of sights that others rarely see in an endeavour to find the place of your dreams while your escourt manages the hairpin bends and orientation manoeuvre's.
Kids will be thrilled to see the numerous theme parks ranging from Zoomarine to The Big One or Krazy World, all within 15 minutes coach drive away. Coaches pick you up outside the condominium.
Take a walk down to the coast yourself and join the locals with their rods to see what big fish you can pull in for dinner.
Shops just hundreds of yards away offer anything from specialised hardware to embroidery and for a megastore where beer starts at 50p a litre and champagne and cheese is much cheaper than in Britain you will have to cycle or drive five minutes along the ring road.
Sir Cliff Richard did not settle a couple of hundred metres from the apartment because things are not expensive, the local street is now named after him and he has moved back a couple of kilometres inland to run a more lucrative establishment selling wine with his name on the bottle.

"Very cosy and convenient. Nice pool too. " Alan - UK
"Brilliant time thanks - what a lovely place. I've never been to Portugal before and I'll definitely be going back. The people are so friendly and you don't feel like you're getting ripped off - unlike some other countries! The whole place was ideal and my daughter had a fabulous time. The pool area didn't get too crowded even though it is peak season. All in all a lovely holiday. " Lisa - London
