Le Duras has been recently converted into a quality holiday cottage including private south facing terrace. Complete peace and quiet among the rolling vineyards. Only 10 min drive to Gaillac, Albi and Cordes sur ciel. Walking and cycling direct from the domain. We love walking around this area in the Tarn and can provide you with many tips and books. Andrea and Ian will cooks great mails for you, in the evening under the stars. Or we can take you to one of the many wine domains, taste wine and have a local picknick. You can play jeu-de-boules on the property and tennis in our next village. Or what about looking-at-the-stars with a professional astronomer? When you just want to relax next to the 14m pool, all is possible here at Puech Blanc!

The Midi-Pyrenees / Tarn region
Three beautiful historic towns, all dating back to the Cathar uprising in the 13th century, are within easy reach. They all have festivals and musical concerts , both jazz and classical, in the summer months
* Cordes sur Ciel - (10 minutes by car) is a stunning bastide town. As you wander through its narrow cobbled streets winding up through stone archways you will discover the shops and studios of all manner of artists and shops selling leather and other local handicrafts. At the top there are spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. * Gaillac (10 minutes) - is another attractive, medieval market town, on the river Tarn. It is the centre of the Gaillac wine industry and has an abbey dating back to 1271. * Albi (15 minutes) - was the capital city of the Cathars (or Albigensians). Its vast Saint-Cecile cathedral dominates the medieval town, which sits astride the river Tarn. Toulouse Lautrec was born here and is celebrated in the Toulouse Lautrec museum. The city has a theatre and a wide range of cultural activities. * Toulouse (less than 1 hour) - is France's 4th largest city. It is called 'la ville rose' becase of the red brick from which its medieval houses are built. However, it is also a modern city and its leading role in the aerospace industry is celebrated in the Cite de L'Espace, interactive space park. * Other nearby bastide towns well worth visiting are Puycelsi, Catelnau de Montmiral, Bruniquel and many others.

* Country - Fishing, cycling, walking canoeing, riding: tennis at Cahuzac (5mins), swimming in natural lakes at Base de Loisirs, Golf – 2 golf courses near Albi (15 mins). * Town - The spectacular new Leisure centre Cap' Decouvertes, near Carmaux includes Ski slopes, go- karting, roller blading, boating lakes etc. (30 mins ) Cite de L'Espace (interactive space park) in Toulouse.

* Food shopping - Locally, wine, milk and country cheese are available directly from our neighbours who are the producers in the hamlet. There are several shops in Cahuzac sur Vere (5mins) including a local farmers shop where the quality of the food is outstanding, 3 boulangeries etc. Supermarkets selling vast ranges of food, clothing etc are available in Gaillac. * Restaurants - The golden triangle has always produced excellent food and there are many top of the range restaurants as well as the small traditional French country restaurants. * Wine Tasting - There are many local vineyards and all welcome visitors to taste and buy.
We can organise for you dinner under the stars,winetasting and picknick,watching-the-stars and explanation by a professional astronomer, lots of walks and jeu-de-boules.

Further details indoors: This gite is free standing and built in beautiful white stone which is typical for the region. It has been rconverted into a quality holiday let, fitted out to a high standard. The open plan design consists of modern fully equipped kitchen with oven and microwave, dining and lounge area with beautiful views over the garden and surrounding vineyards.
The bathroom has a separate toilet, double washbasin area and large shower unit. The mezzanine bedroom area above is constructed from beautiful pine beams, with a new and very comfortable large-size double bed, and with an east-facing window for the morning sunshine. There is also a convertible sofa bed in the lounge.
Le Duras has a completely private and south facing terrace, ideal for relaxing, sunbathing and enjoying barbecues. In the heat of the summer Le Duras will remain nice and cool, due to its deep walls, insulated roof and double-glazing. For the winter season Le Duras has a very efficient gas central heating.
Further details outdoors: 'Puech Blanc' is situated centrally in the 'golden triangle' formed by the medieval market towns of Cordes, Gaillac and Albi. This area forms the heart of the Gaillac wine region which was first established by the Romans.
The stunning surrounding countryside provides excellent walking and cycling facilities. You can set off directly from 'Puech Blanc' into the vineyards which are open for all to wander through. We are central to the 60 or so wine domains which comprise the famous Gaillac wine, you will have fun visiting them as they are very often open to the public and you are welcome to taste and buy their wines.
There are two forests close by where you are free to wander so the potential for walking, picnics, horse riding and cycling is endless. You can also have great fun renting canoes or kayaks on either the Tarn or Avyron rivers.
The garden has many fruit tree and you are free to pick and enjoy the real taste of fresh fruit. You can get your own eggs from the hen house and we can provide you with home made bread.
Albi is 20 minutes away and is home to the Toulouse-Lautrec museum and has many shops, restaurants and relaxing cafés. Here you will also find a magnificent 18 hole golf club within a large bend in the river Tarn which is open to public – the clubhouse is an 18th century chateaux, and all necessary equipment is available for rent.
Gaillac is our local market town 10 minutes down the country lane that passes near 'Puech Blanc', the local Friday Gaillac market attracts the regions farmers, and where you will find an amazing range of local natural products and live animals. Cordes is a historic medieval town 15 minutes away and is always very popular with visitors to the region.
Throughout the year there are lots of cultural activities such as the weekly music festival in Gaillac and the medieval pageant in Cordes.

For the months April, May, October and November we organise special walking weeks. We have numerous different walks were you can choose from. When you enjoy walking, you love the area with the variety in landscape. Activities you could choose from: - Eating under the stars, Andrea makes great 4-course diners with local ingredients - Looking at the stars with telescoops and full explanation about the galaxies etc - Visiting a local winedomaine with explanation about the makings of it a with picnic afterwards - Making some stunnings walks with guided documentation ( we love walking..) - Playing jeu-de-boules We provide you with all linnen for the bed, kitchen and bathroom. We just ask you to take your own swimm-towels.
