Home description
Alberobello really is a magical place and this spacious two bedroom flat is ideally situated for you to be able to take advantage of all the sights, sounds and cuisine of this UNESCO world heritage town. Beaches are easily reachable in under 30 minutes by car and you are also well placed to admire the architecture and history that make up this warm and charming part of Italy.
The apartment, with its own large and sunny roof terrace (20 sq metres), stands two floors up at the top of a historic building, believed to have been built for a mayor of the town and has recently been magnificently renovated by local craftsmen. You can happily while away days sunning yourself on the terrace or spending time in Alberobello itself, strolling through the maze of cobbled streets lined with the world famous Trullis or sitting at one of the cafes and bars in the central square.
There are regular festivals and events in Alberobello which mean you will never be bored. The Festival of Light in September is a particularly spectacular time to enjoy the town although you won't be disappointed whatever time of year you go - there is always something happening in this amazing little town.

The Puglia/Molise region
The region of Puglia is steeped in history - renowned for its fresh and varied local cuisine, beautiful architecture, warm climate and the exceptionally warm and friendly people. The weather is generally hot and sunny and the landscape consists of rolling countryside, with ancient olive groves stretching as far as the eye can see.
Twenty minutes to the east you will find beautiful beaches to the south of Monopoli and fishing boats float in and out of the many ports and harbours. Inland, whitewashed towns with cobbled historic centres sit on hilltops. You must take time to visit places like Ostuni, Martina Franca, Locorotondo and on the coast Monopoli, Gallipolli and Otranto are all worth visiting. The spectacular caves at Castellana are amazing to visit and only a few minutes drive away.
Alberobello area
A UNESCO World Heritage town, Alberobello lies in the heart of the Itrea Valley. As well as its own unrivalled cobbled streets packed with ancient Trullis, it is also a beautiful town in its own right, always spotlessly clean, quiet and welcoming. You will never be short of things to do in the town and surrounding areas - Alberobello itself has many religious and musical festivals throughout the year ... the Festival of Light in September being particularly spectacular. Its a great central location for cyclists and walkers, artists and nature lovers alike.
The apartment is only a few minutes stroll from the restaurants and bars that are dotted around the town: the MiseriaeNobilta wine bar in the central square is a great place to be - you can enjoy the atmosphere inside or people watch at a table outside (www.miseriaenobiltaweb.it.) There are countless restaurants offering superb local cuisine and wine at great prices. We have recommended some of our favourite places to eat out in the welcome pack but you should feel free to explore and come up with your own undiscovered gems ...it's that kind of town!
How to get there
Ryanair fly direct to both Bari and Brindisi (www.ryanair.com) from Stansted. British Airways fly direct to Bari twice a week (www.britishairways.com) from Gatwick Alitalia flies to both airports from Heathrow and Manchester (via Milan or Rome). This is our favoured option as you get good baggage allowance and very comfortable pre-allocated seats.
Bari and Brindisi are both no more than 45 minutes easy drive from Alberobello. You can hire a car through any of the main rental companies (eg Hertz, Europcar etc) - we would recommend using Holiday Autos (www.holidayautos.co.uk) to do that and you have the option to drop off at the other airport if that suits your departure date better.
One other option is to fly to Naples or Pescara, both within 3 hours drive.
Alberobello also has a local train station, which offers a pleasant way to travel from Bari, Brindisi or other Italian cities.
