The ideal place for a relaxing 'chill-out' holiday, a place where you can sample the superb food & drink of Puglia, the many attractions of Alberobello and other local towns, the superb Adriatic beaches and coastline.
The restoration has been meticulous retaining the best of the original features whilst adding high quality modern facilities. The beautiful stonework is now exposed, the floor is on one level with no steps and there is full normal headroom throughout. The new 49 sq metre extension comprising a large light fully fitted dining kitchen, house bathroom and the wonderful arched veranda has been built in hand-worked local stone to a style that beautifully complements the original structure.

The Puglia/Molise region
Puglia (ancient Apulia) is the strangely enchanting region in the heel of Italy, with it's beautiful beaches, bustling cities and astonishing towns. This rural region verdant with olive groves, vineyards and orchards is still essentially 'old' Italy. The landscape is full of history, this is where the slave army of Spartacus was denied escape across the seas and turned North to meet their fate, this is the point of departure for crusaders in the middle ages. Castles, forts, ports and incredible magnificent Cathedrals & Churches are everywhere plus the unique Trulli of the Valle D'Itria. Notwithstanding the superb buildings - the clearest evidence of the work of men for millenia is in the land, these groves, vineyards and orchards have been shaped by men for hundreds of years. It is no surprise that Puglia produces 40% of Italy's olive oil and 25% of her wine.
The best of Puglia? - the people - the most welcoming and friendly in the Mediterranean.
Alberobello area
Alberobello is unique, whole sections of this small town (10,000 people) are formed of the Trulli - fascinating dome shaped houses mostly centuries old. The whole town is a World Heritage Centre, listed in most of the books as one of the places in the world you should visit in your lifetime. But Alberobello is also a warm friendly place with the bars, cafes, restaurants and people that make Italy such a magical country to holiday in. One of eight 'white' towns of the Valle D'Itria.... Castellana Grotte - largest cave system in Italy, Putignano - carnival city, Ostuni - white city with breathtaking views, Locorotondo - white wine capital, Polignano a Mare - one of many stunning seaside towns through to the bustle of Martina Franca with its fabulous historic centre, expensive shops, classical music festival and much more
How to get there
Casa Pietraluna is on the outskirts of Alberobello on a small hill just next to the Bosco Selva nature reserve. A 4 minute drive from the heart of Alberobello, 15minutes from Locorotondo and 25 minutes from Martina Franca. Once your booking is confirmed we will send you detailed driving instructions on how to find the Trullo from the two local international airports (Bari & Brindisi).
Air Travel
Bari Palese airport has recently been redeveloped and now has an ultra modern terminal building with full facilities, it is 60 kilometres North of us, approximately 1 hour drive. The more basic but adequate regional airport at Brindisi Casale is 65 kilometres to the South - also a 1 hour drive away. There are direct flights from Gatwick (British Airways) and Stansted (RyanAir) and Alitalia (the Italian airline) flies to both airports from Heathrow and Manchester (via Milan or Rome). Other options are possible by flying to Rome and then connecting onto a flight to Bari. If you are coming from other countries then Rome will normally be your point of entry into Italy so Alitalia, (Rome to Bari), will be the usual option. Note that there are numerous other internal Italian airlines that fly from Rome or Milan to Bari, you can find these via the Bari airport website - www.seap-puglia.com. (Take care when arranging flights via Milan or Rome that you don't have to change airports as well as flights, both these cities have multiple airports miles apart and it's highly inconvenient switching airports!!)
Naples and Pescara airports are 3.5 hours drive from Alberobello so these are possible options, especially if you wish to consider a two-centre holiday - say a week around the Bay of Naples and a week in Puglia.
Car Hire
All the major car hire companies are at the local airports and some have agencies in local towns and cities, we advise that you should book your car hire in advance of travelling, it's safer and normally cheaper.

Further details indoors: The salone/day room comprises two large cones and forms a beautifully relaxing room. In the height of Summer it provides a pleasantly cool retreat from the midday sun whilst on Autumn/Winter evenings the wood-burning fire and central heating make it cheerful, warm and cosy.
A corridor through the centre of the trullo connects the salone with the kitchen and all the other rooms open off this corridor - the house bathroom, two bedrooms (a double & a single) plus the master bedroom suite comprising bedroom, dressing area and en suite bathroom. The en suite tiles are mosaic and the handbasin is set in a large piece of antique style marble. The showers are large, constant hot water at the turn of a tap, lots of storage (wardrobes & drawers) and there are plenty of towels & bedlinen. Corridor storage cupboards neatly hide away all the normal domestic needs, hairdryer, iron, hoover etc.
Further details outdoors: Outside - a beautiful natural stone terrace extends along the front of the house, from this you step down into the curved garden piazzala and to the right is the barbeque terrace.
General facilities include ample parking, outside lighting and power, wood-burning fireplace, full modern gas central heating for use in Winter or on cool Autumn evenings, garden furniture and a barbeque.

Guestbook
Had a lovely relaxing holiday in your comfortable, cosy, but spacious Trullo. It is situated in a quiet spot but ver;y close to good food and shops and the people are so friendly. Can't wait to go back. Rita and friends, Yorkshire
"Thanks for a fantastic introduction to a relatively 'unknown' region of Italy. The food, the wine, the history, and the people, all added up to a great holiday. The Trullo was everything you said it would be - comfortable, very clean, lovely views and a great base for our holiday" Jim & Susan, Bingley, West Yorkshire.
Wow - that's what we said when we walked in the door and saw the Salone for the first time. Your trulli was wonderful, loads of space, best fitted out kitchen of any house I've rented and spotlessly clean. We loved it. L&L, Maidenhead
