We stayed for 9 days in october break with 2 kids aged 4 and 10. The house is simple and classy and very vitally, comfortable. Lovely sofas and not too much fiss for the kids to damage. Its Homes and Gardens meets comfy, anita, our lovely host has converted the historic building into an ideal modern holiday home inside. We had 2 cold days and the rest lovely and sunny, reading, making coffees on the great little machine in the kitchen, which w perfectly fitted out for making rustic dinners at home. Couldnt use the pool as too cold but we swam in the sea at capitolo - turquoise with golden sand and about half a dozen others on the beach. Local eateries authentic, not a lot of english spoken. Perfect. Nearby restaurant had pasta and pizza main courses for 3 or 4 euros. Alberobello very pretty and has an excellent deli on the main street where uou can buy spit roasted whole chickens wed and saturday got to be done! Make fresh pasta in the house with local passata to add on the side. The house is in an olive grove and we watched them ripening, the kids were fascinated. Its a lovely area for exploring. Martina franca passagiata excellent with wide boulevard and classy main square. Safari park at fasano really good and get very close to the animals, there is also a little amusement patk next door open weekends off season for the kids. This is a great and much unheralded area, affordable and rustic but pretty with ancient 2000 year old olive groves. Polignano sur mare very worth a look and locorotondo, a beautiful white washed town perched on a hill. Thanks anita, you were a perfect host and the house is perfect for relaxing. |

We stayed in Il Gelso for a week in August and had a fantastic time. The Villa is beautiful and the owners have done a very thoughtful renovation and extension to provide very spacious and comfortable accommodation. The location is perfect, very private and peaceful, yet just a few minutes by car to the lovely town of Alberobello. The gardens are beautiful and we spent our days relaxing by the pool and eating al fresco under the gazebo. I would highly recommend this property and hope to holiday there again in the future. |

This is a very special house. The building works and the fit-out (inside and outside) have been carried out with a great deal of care, style and attention to detail. The standards throughout are unusually high and this is a testament to the commitment of the owners Anita and Pino, who live nearby. Their friendliness and willingness to greet us personally, as well as providing us with helpful back-up during our stay, was an added bonus that made a big difference to the whole experience. The location is close to a handful of compact, well-preserved medieval walled towns. A car is essential though as the trullo is in a countryside setting about a mile outside Alberobello. Overall, it is highly recommended and we wouldn't hesitate to go back again some time. |
