The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia renowned for the kind southern character, the natural openness of the people, a truly wonderful cuisine and exquisite wines. A region of rich red soil, vast olive groves with trees carved by nature, vineyards almond groves and fruit orchards in abundance.

The region of Puglia is to be found in the South East of Italy, it stretches its self between the Adriatic and the Ionian seas forming the heel of the Italian boot. There is approx 500 km of coastline with a diversity to suit everyone from the rocky coves and caves of Polignano a Mare down to the long sandy beaches of Torre Canne a big family beach, to deserted sandy coves, private lidos, and the truly wonderful nature reserve of Torre Guaceto. Ostuni, "the White City", lerally with streets of marble. The world famous Castellan caves, the mystical Castel del Monte. Lecce, the Queen of Baroque. Many Roman ruins. There is nowhere else like this.

Puglia is Italy’s largest olive oil producing region with olive trees in every garden it is easy to see why.

Every town has a market day selling locally produced goods from fresh fruit and veg, to clothes and shoes, a bargain to be found by all. The sun in July and August can be very strong, but with the weather being pleasant from May through to October there is plenty of time to explore this beautiful region.

Alberobello

Alberobello is the Capital of the Trullo a Unesco world heritage site. A very pretty market town with excellent restaurants and bars. There are two major festivals in Alberobello, the' Folklore Festival' the first week in August. an international dance festival. The religious festival of St Cosimo and Damiano 27th&28th of September with street markets, bands, processions and a firework display.

Within easy access are:

Locorotondo :Famous for its white wine, visit the Cantina Sociale.

Cisternino : Pretty town with stunning views over the Valle D' Itria.

Ostuni :The' White City' perched on a hill with views over the sea.

Castellana Grotte : Castellana Grotte caves, a wonderful example of stalactites and stalacmites.

"Absolutely fantastic!"

We had never even heard of Trulli until this summer, and then immediately wanted to stay in one! The pictures & description of this house are 100/% accurate. The house is VERY small (suitable for two people only - although there is a single camp bed available, it would be very cramped indeed if this was in use). However, the outside space is amazing. The pool was very welcome in the August heat, the outside barbecue got plenty of use, and the location is wonderful - very private in a lovely rural area, yet only a short five minute drive into the town of Alberobello. The town is the real attraction. It is full of beautiful Trulli houses, has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and is buzzing in the evening with mainly Italian couples & families - walking, chatting, socialising in the little streets and cafes in the town. The property is also in a great location for visiting other well know towns in the region. The agents for the property were great also - dropping by a couple of evenings just to check that everything was ok. All in all, a wonderful holiday that we would love to repeat; and would definitely recommend this property to couples looking for a relaxing, romantic holiday in a wonderful location.

"Amazing romantic seclusion"

This place was wonderful, the trulli is small and compact, but has absolutely everything you might need in it (especially since the very kind owners left a welcome pack of goodies to get through. But the main draw to this place is the outside space. Great swimming pool and plenty of outside eating - why stay inside anyway?

The owner also runs a very popular restaurant in Alberobello, and he totally looked after us when we went there.

Highly recommended.

"Perfect for a relaxing holiday"

The accommodation is very small but the outside facilities make up for the lack of space inside the Trulli. The garden and pool area is wonderful and well equipped. The property is isolated with lovely views of open countryside. You definitely need a car but the town of Alberobello is only about 3 km from the Trulli. The welcome pack was perfect and the agents were very attentive and helpful during our stay. We had a very enjoyable week visiting different towns in the area. There was no hair dryer or scissors and it would be better if the fridge door opened the other way as the space is very confined and the bed is a sofa bed which was not that comfortable.
