"A splendid oasis for any and all travelers exploring Granada."
A splendid oasis for any and all travelers exploring Granada. Greg is a consummate host with maps, suggestions, and walking routes to various medieval districts. All not more than (within reason) 20 minutes away. I particularly liked the Moroccan tea area he suggested, and the market just adjacent to it, and of course, the Alhambra. There are two apartments, and we rented both of them (two couples traveling together). Both apartments were spotless with separate kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas. There are a variety of beds available in both apartments. The bed I slept in was firm, the room was quiet, and I slept without taking any sleep meds (I'm a VERY light sleeper) for the first time in about nine days. The view from the apartments and the lower patio are of the medieval areas of Granada, and a breathtaking vista of the Alhambra. I don't like sharing secrets with anyone, and I really don't like sharing the secret of the Montesclaros – but I was asked to. It is a gem in a city that holds nothing but treasure.

"a very special stay"
My friends and I wanted an authentic Andalusian holiday and we found it in Granada by staying in this very special place. The apartment is lovely, clean and comfortable--just like the photos--and a perfect base from which to explore the Albaycin neighborhood, the Alhambra and the rest of historic Granada. It was equipped with everything we needed, and there was a small grocery nearby. Our gracious hosts helped us make the most of our time at the Alhambra (so glad we didn't have to wait in line!), set up reservations for a thrilling flamenco show with fine dining (not the usual tablao menu), suggested an off-the-beaten-path hike up the mountain behind the Alhambra, and gave us many other excellent, non-tourist trap recommendations. At the end of our very full days, we would relax and take in the astounding views from the patio. Those moments stayed with us long after our time there was over. The only word of caution: to reach this beautiful perch, you have to walk a couple of steep streets with your luggage when you arrive and depart. For a flat-lander like me it was well worth it, but it may not be appropriate for everyone. Otherwise, I strongly recommend this very special place and its gracious hosts.
