Home description

Delightful 200 year old stone village house, situated on uppermost lane of the village in premier area. Quiet location with private garden and pool. The house is SW facing and is attractively renovated in traditional style with modern facilities. Stunning views over village, mountains and countryside from all bedrooms, garden and pool area. Barbeque and bouganvilla covered outdoor dining area make for magical summer evenings. Pool has interesting rocky bottom which is fun especially for teenagers. Delightful terraced garden with many plants and unspoilt, protected forest above.

Ideal for relaxing summer holiday, but well situated for exploring the beautiful Sierra de Tramuntana mountains and villages. Easy driving distance from relatively quiet beaches of Pollensa and Alcudia.

Master bedroom has en suite bathroom and romantic canopied double bed. Diningroom with oak dining table and 4 matching chairs (extra chairs available). Kitchen is well fitted and equipped.

Alaró is a typical Mallorcean mountain village with friendly locals and a number of foreign residents, although off the tourist circuit. There are frequent fiestas, which include devils dancing, giants and fireworks. A fruit and vegetable market every Saturday in the town square is fun for people watching

The Mallorca/Majorca region

Mallorca has a typical mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and warm wet winters.

The fertile valley of Alaró lies on the south side of the Sierra de Tramontana range which runs from SW to NE along the entire length of Mallorca. The presence of the mountains means that Alaró is not sufforcatingly hot in July and August as is the central flat region of Mallorca.

There are many coves and beaches, mountain and rural villages to explore, while Palma is a modern city with beautiful gothic cathedral, palace and old town. Excellent shopping and restaurants.

Alaro area

Alaró is situated midway between the beaches of the Bay of Palma and the Bay of Alcudia, both quickly reached by motorway.

Alaró has a ruined castle on top of the mountain and there is an excellent typical restaurant "Es Verger" on the way up. Go there for local lamb, its mouthwatering! Other excellent restaurants in village.

The week ending 16th August is the week of the fiestas of Sant Roc, with many activities. Street painting for children, dancing giants, devils with fireworks, etc. The whole village takes part and the square is very lively.

Guestbook

1. Susan, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. It’s an extremely well equipped, comfortable house and garden with fantastic views. The village has lovely cafés and bars where you can sit and enjoy a coffee (or something stronger!) We had a lovely week which passed all too quickly, hope to see you again in the future. Anne, Dave, Kate, Hannah & Chloe Parsons. August 2007.
2. Alaro is a very attractive hillside town within reasonable travelling distance of the coast and close to spectacular mountain scenery. The house is spacious, immaculately presented and well equipped. Its hillside location and interesting design provide marvelous views over Alaro and across much of Majorca. We enjoyed it immensely! Andy Whiteley Aug. 06.
3. Hello Susan, just a short note to say thank-you so much for renting your beautiful home to us. We had such a wonderful time there and felt rested and re-charged. We would love to stay again if we re-visit Mallorca. Theresa Marsh Aug. 06/07.
