The Mediterranean Coast region
The Turkish Mediterranean is the coastline (stretching from Kemer to Gazipasa) along the Antalya region to the southern end of Turkey. As the pine covered Taurus Mountains sweep down to the Mediterranean sea, the landscape forms an irregular coastline of, little bays secluded coves, rocky headlands and long sandy beaches.
With its 300 days a year sunshine, outstanding natural beauty, the region has become a paradise for sunbathing, swimming, windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, mountain climbing horse riding and golf. Visiting the Antalya region in March or April, gives you the opportunity to ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon. Combine all of this with its' rich culture, history and ancient ruins, its easy to see why the Turkish Riviera has become the tourism capital of Turkey and one of the hottest property markets in Europe.
Alanya is known for its miles of beautiful beaches, castle, harbour and its banana plantations.
"An elegant, broad-avenued town, which is justifiably one of Turkey's most popular resorts, w.ith a fine harbour and a peaceful, unhurried air." (Insight Guides, 2009)
Built around a fortified harbour and castle, Alanya is a fascinating combination of old and new. In the old quarter, ancient stone streets, hidden behind rambling city walls, provide an oasis of calm with great views to the blue horizon. In contrast, the new town is a large Turkish centre in its own right, with all the bars, restaurants and shops you'd expect from a modern resort.
There are a huge number of things to do in Alanya and the surrounding area - from watersports to historic site and boat trips to mountain walking and canyon swimming!
The resort caters for those who want to spend two weeks laying in the sun doing very little, to those who want to have a new adventure everyday - and Oba provides the ideal base for either of these groups and any in between.

Alanya is full of shops offering leather apparel, souvenirs, ceramics, jewellery, and other items popular with tourists.
