This beautifully restored barn is fully furnished to a high standard and air conditioned throughout (central heating and open log fires in winter months). Outside the shrubs and plants provide a haven for the wild tortoises that roam freely in the well tended garden. The garden also has grape vines, olive, fig, lemon, and almond trees as well as evening scented shrubs creating a relaxing ambience. Alacati boasts its "urban site" status that ensures the buildings are preserved in their original state, prevents multi-storey buildings in discord with Alacati's original architectural heritage. Additionally bars and discotheques cannot be opened in the town centre and the streets are free of tasteless plastic coffee house chairs.

Alacati is one of the worlds top 3 windsurfing centers, hosting European and World championship competitions. Blue flag beaches with the clear turquoise waters of the Aegean surround Alacati on three coasts, north, south and West. Alacati beach and windsurf center is only 2km from the accomodation. The area is renown for its thermal springs and mineral waters, resulting in many spas and making it an ideal location for sufferes of arthritis and other such illnesses.

Alacati is a very fashionable old charming rum town that is being lovingly restored and preserved. Many famous Turkish celebrities come here to enjoy the evenings in the fashionable cafe/restaurants. The accommodation is situated inside the old town and is particularly suited to nature lovers, windsurfers and those who like to stay in the heart of an old historic town. Just take a stroll along the cobbled streets soaking up the history and atmosphere or enjoy an evening meal in one of the intimate cafe/restaurants that feature jazz music and live tango dancing. The streets are lined with old rum houses and tobacco and raisin stores that have been converted into art galleries, craft and antique shops. You can also visit the famous antique bazzar and organic produce market. For those who want a lively night life and a touch of salsa there are two beach night clubs open during the summer with well known European and Turkish bands and DJs. The Barn and house have been featured in Ev Bache (House Garden) magazine September 2009 edition, Home Art magazine August 2007 edition and Travel and Leisure magazine July 2008 edition.

Cesme and Alacati have been mentioned in the New York Times as the No8th holiday destination to visit in 2010.

The new marina in Cesme opened in 2010 and boasts many fashionable retail outlets, restaurants and cafe's

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Alacati is an excellent place to base yourself and your the regions beaches, historic sites and quaint villages and towns. It is also ideally located for day trips by ferry to the Greek island of Chios.

As well as the popular tourist site of Epheusus there are many more day trips that are available.

Our favourite is Teos, Sigacik, After a 45 minute drive you can explore the old ruins of Teos, then visit the Sunday market inside the old town of Sigacik, eat fish by the harbour and swim from a lovely sheltered beach, something for all the family.

Other places of interest include exploring the Karaburun peninsula, spectacular views and wonderful fish restaurants. There is also Ildir and the ancient site of Eryrhrai, climb up to the old church and watch the sun set.
