Further details
My main concern is that my guests have a comfortable and memorable stay. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and the house feels very much "home from home" with all the facilities you need to make your holiday effortless. The house is so close to the beach there is no need for a car and the walk down is shaded through pine forest, but the house is far enough away from the hustle and bustle to ensure you have a sound nights sleep.
A meet and greet service is provided with a welcome pack and information booklet with emergency numbers and contact details of our managing agent in Akyaka Transfers and car hire can be organised if required.
Towels and linen are included and are changed weekly, when the house is cleaned throughout. Maid service is also available on request for a small fee.
The Ottoman Hotel has said that all guests (under 12s) can use their swimming pool. There is also a swimming pool two minutes away at the Gokova Hotel which can be used if guests buy a drink.
We suggest that guests bring their own Ipod. Speakers are provided.
Cot and highchair can be provided upon request.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Akyaka is on the gulf of Gokova between Marmaris and Mugla. It was voted one of the top 10 world destinations due to it’s awe inspiring mountains, crystal clear river and turquoise sea. It is also one of the worlds best centres for kite boarding. Akyaka is a great base for visiting other areas. Sidar Island is only a short boat trip away, with it’s ancient city of Kedrai, the temple of Apollon, the remains of a theatre and necropolis. On market days you can visit the traditional Turkish town of Mugla, where you can step back in time. Mugla also offers luxurious Turkish baths. Buses go to Marmaris on a daily basis, either in the day or in the evening for nightlife and shopping. . 1 hr away is the delightful town of Dalyan, with historical tombs carved into the cliff, turtle beach, river cruises and mud/thermal baths.
The Akyaka area
Akyaka remains one of the favourite destinations on the Turkish coast with its wide sandy beach and constant cooling breeze within walking distance of the house. The beach is ideal for children and the beach side restaurants provide the ideal lunch venue. Beds and sun umbrellas are plentiful. Snorkelling enthusiasts will enjoy the rocky coastline. At the far end of the beach, pedalos and canoes can be hired. Wind-surfing lessons are also available. Akyaka is on of Turkey’s top destinations for Kite boarding and the gentle breeze along the gulf is perfect for the sport. There is also a local Hamam, where you can be pampered, only 5 minutes walk away and a fully kitted gym with exercise classes to suit all ages.
Beyond the beach is the forest park where you will be surrounded by the smell of wood drifting up from the Turkish BBQ's. The crystal clear river enters the sea and at the mouth are moored 'Kofte boats' where you can buy delicious kofte or fried fish sandwiches very cheaply. The river is rich in wildlife and is ideal for bird watching. River trips are available and include lunch.
Also boat trips go from the harbour to the many beautiful bays of the Gokova Gulf. Visit the famous Cleopatra's Beach and the ancient island city of Kedrai. If the wind is right you will be accompanied back by a school of dolphins. The shingle beach of Cinar is just a five minute taxi ride away from Akyaka.
Akyaka is situated at the end of the beautiful Bay of Gokova, tucked in between the sea and the Sakara Tepe mountains. The village has numerous food shops and a village bakery. A permanent fruit and vegetable market ensures you have the best choice of locally grown fruit. Akyaka is a nature reserve, scenically stunning and unspoilt but with an abundance of eateries.
There is a comprehensive tour programme available from the village. Captain's Tour Operators also offer trips to green lake at Dalyan or Akbuk Bay to practice your water skiing or have fun on a banana boat. Akyaka is an ideal holiday destination, great for both couples and families. It remains predominately a Turkish resort, and thus retains its delightful atmosphere. Most holiday makers return year after year.
Even though Akyaka is a small village, the sea is perfect for such activities as windsurfing, kayaking and kite boarding. The magnificent mountains either side of the village host several areas for paragliding, mountain biking, and it's well worth exploring on foot as wildlife is plentiful in the spring.
The house is 5 minutes walk from the most idyllic riverside restaurants where you can dine and watch otters at the same time. The river is lit at night and crystal clear with a backdrop of reeds. It's also about 15 minutes walk from the beach and the local town. The seafront is packed with gorgeous restaurants. You can dine watching the sea lapping against the sand. Some are beautifully illuminated with gentle music and fine wines. The town has very strict architectural rights which makes Akyaka different from most other Turkish resorts. All the houses are protected against modern style development. It is a beautiful combination of river, mountains, sea and pine forest together with plenty of eateries.
There are so many wonderful things to see and do and all within walking distance of your own private house. After a day at the beach you can walk home and make tea/listen to music/watch a DVD or just enjoy the peace and tranquillity of sitting out in the garden with music and wine.

Guestbook for Akyaka
"The house was beyond my expectations beautiful stone floors and marble staircases. Very well equipped and superbly situated in the most beautiful resort! I could have stayed far longer! Thank you."

Just thought I'd drop you an e-mail to say how much we enjoyed our time in Turkey. Akyaka was lovely and your house was extremely comfortable and convenient. We had superb weather for both weeks - just what the doctor ordered away from the gloom of the UK!
We enjoyed the boat trips and exploring the surrounding area and all the people were really friendly.
Thanks again.
