Beautiful quiet 4 bedroomed house in the charming resort of Akyaka. The house is in a gorgeous location with stunning views and close to an abundance of eateries and riverside restaurants. The house has everything to make it home from home. Akyaka has everything... mountains, river, sea all within walking distance of this lovely residence.
Set against a rugged backdrop of awe inspiring mountains, surrounding acres of pine forests, crystal clear freshwater river and streams & exquisite Ottoman style architecture, this spacious 4 bedroom house is newly built to a very high specification. It has stunning views over the nature reserve and is only 15 minutes walk from the town and beach, and 5 minutes walk to the beautiful riverside restaurants. The property is set out on 3 floors and very comfortably sleeps 6 guests. The rooms have been decorated with great attention to detail with comfy beds and pillows to ensure the guests enjoy a good nights sleep.
The lounge includes 8 seater sofa plus 1 comfy chair with patio windows opening out to terrace dining area , open fireplace, A/C unit, and TV with DVD player.
To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
All rooms (apart from the basement) are fitted with air-conditioning, which can also be used for winter heating together with an open fire place. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere.
|Further details outdoors|
The house has a beautiful white marble garden with lemon trees and bougenvillia. There is a large sunshade for alfresco dining in the garden and the balcony has stunning views over the nature reserve. The house is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a south facing balcony, and panoramic views. The garden has sun loungers and a large dining table and marble BBQ.
Accessibility: There are a few steps leading to the house entrance but there is slope to enable cases/buggies etc. to be carried in and out easily.
My main concern is that my guests have a comfortable and memorable stay. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and the house feels very much "home from home" with all the facilities you need to make your holiday effortless. The house is so close to the beach there is no need for a car and the walk down is shaded through pine forest, but the house is far enough away from the hustle and bustle to ensure you have a sound nights sleep.
A meet and greet service is provided with a welcome pack and information booklet with emergency numbers and contact details of our managing agent in Akyaka Transfers and car hire can be organised if required.
Towels and linen are included and are changed weekly, when the house is cleaned throughout. Maid service is also available on request for a small fee.
The Ottoman Hotel has said that all guests (under 12s) can use their swimming pool. There is also a swimming pool two minutes away at the Gokova Hotel which can be used if guests buy a drink.
We suggest that guests bring their own Ipod. Speakers are provided.
Cot and highchair can be provided upon request.
The Turkish Aegean Coast region
Akyaka is on the gulf of Gokova between Marmaris and Mugla. It was voted one of the top 10 world destinations due to it’s awe inspiring mountains, crystal clear river and turquoise sea. It is also one of the worlds best centres for kite boarding. Akyaka is a great base for visiting other areas. Sidar Island is only a short boat trip away, with it’s ancient city of Kedrai, the temple of Apollon, the remains of a theatre and necropolis. On market days you can visit the traditional Turkish town of Mugla, where you can step back in time. Mugla also offers luxurious Turkish baths. Buses go to Marmaris on a daily basis, either in the day or in the evening for nightlife and shopping. . 1 hr away is the delightful town of Dalyan, with historical tombs carved into the cliff, turtle beach, river cruises and mud/thermal baths.
Akyaka remains one of the favourite destinations on the Turkish coast with its wide sandy beach and constant cooling breeze within walking distance of the house. The beach is ideal for children and the beach side restaurants provide the ideal lunch venue. Beds and sun umbrellas are plentiful. Snorkelling enthusiasts will enjoy the rocky coastline. At the far end of the beach, pedalos and canoes can be hired. Wind-surfing lessons are also available. Akyaka is on of Turkey’s top destinations for Kite boarding and the gentle breeze along the gulf is perfect for the sport. There is also a local Hamam, where you can be pampered, only 5 minutes walk away and a fully kitted gym with exercise classes to suit all ages.
Beyond the beach is the forest park where you will be surrounded by the smell of wood drifting up from the Turkish BBQ's. The crystal clear river enters the sea and at the mouth are moored 'Kofte boats' where you can buy delicious kofte or fried fish sandwiches very cheaply. The river is rich in wildlife and is ideal for bird watching. River trips are available and include lunch.
Also boat trips go from the harbour to the many beautiful bays of the Gokova Gulf. Visit the famous Cleopatra's Beach and the ancient island city of Kedrai. If the wind is right you will be accompanied back by a school of dolphins. The shingle beach of Cinar is just a five minute taxi ride away from Akyaka.
Akyaka is situated at the end of the beautiful Bay of Gokova, tucked in between the sea and the Sakara Tepe mountains. The village has numerous food shops and a village bakery. A permanent fruit and vegetable market ensures you have the best choice of locally grown fruit. Akyaka is a nature reserve, scenically stunning and unspoilt but with an abundance of eateries.
There is a comprehensive tour programme available from the village. Captain's Tour Operators also offer trips to green lake at Dalyan or Akbuk Bay to practice your water skiing or have fun on a banana boat. Akyaka is an ideal holiday destination, great for both couples and families. It remains predominately a Turkish resort, and thus retains its delightful atmosphere. Most holiday makers return year after year.
Even though Akyaka is a small village, the sea is perfect for such activities as windsurfing, kayaking and kite boarding. The magnificent mountains either side of the village host several areas for paragliding, mountain biking, and it's well worth exploring on foot as wildlife is plentiful in the spring.
The house is 5 minutes walk from the most idyllic riverside restaurants where you can dine and watch otters at the same time. The river is lit at night and crystal clear with a backdrop of reeds. It's also about 15 minutes walk from the beach and the local town. The seafront is packed with gorgeous restaurants. You can dine watching the sea lapping against the sand. Some are beautifully illuminated with gentle music and fine wines. The town has very strict architectural rights which makes Akyaka different from most other Turkish resorts. All the houses are protected against modern style development. It is a beautiful combination of river, mountains, sea and pine forest together with plenty of eateries.
There are so many wonderful things to see and do and all within walking distance of your own private house. After a day at the beach you can walk home and make tea/listen to music/watch a DVD or just enjoy the peace and tranquillity of sitting out in the garden with music and wine.

"Great holiday in a lovely location"
We've just come back from a week in this lovely house in Akyaka and had a fabulous holiday. As far as the house goes one of the best, and most unusual, features is just how very well equipped it is - particularly the kitchen! It really is a fully-equipped kitchen which did mean that on two occasions during the week, after particularly strenuous days, we were able to buy food from the supermarket (well-stocked and just 5 mins up the road) and cook in - eating (and drinking well-chilled wine) on the lovely balcony with views across the valley.
As far as Akyaka itself goes we managed to cram a lot of activities into a week - bike hire (very, very reasonable rates and a short pedal inland brought us to 'real' Turkish villages and countryside); a boat trip; car hire to Dalyan (mud baths and a ruined city); the short walk to the beach at Cinar, and of course just lazing on Akyaka's beach! Akyaka is a particularly well-maintained resort (I saw litter pickers on the beach - not seen that often in Turkey!), with the usual selection of restaurants just a short stagger from the house!

"We'll be back"
We spent a week at this villa in Akayaka. It was our first visit and it didn't disappoint. The house is well appointed with everything you should need - well it was for us! Transfers were organised by the owner as was a welcome pack of basic food items.
The villa is a short walk from the river and beach, and the shops aren't far away. The house was as described and the beds are comfy!
We can't wait to go back.
