The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

A very popular area in Turkey which has something for everyone. There are many organised coach tours to Hierapolis, Pamukkales, Ephasus, Bodrum, and more, which provide historic culture but for the independant traveller you can also drive yourself if you wish. There is plenty of sailing and diving.
There are busy and quiet resorts. If you want somewhere quiet try Lake Koycegiz and look at the rare birds. For shopping and busy nightlife try Marmaris which can be reached by car or dolmus. There are several websites which provide local tourist information to help plan your holiday. Try www.marmarisinfo.com. Or look at the DK Eye Witness travel guide to Turkey.
The wet season ends in March and usually Easter is warm and dry, and a good time for sightseeing and walking before the temperatures rise.
May through to end of September is hot and very dry. Temperatures do reach 40 Celsius.
