Home description
This lovely family sized cabin has under floor heating, triple glazing and a log burner for good effect. It has two double bedrooms and a large mezzanine level with 3 beds. Great for children. Downstairs in the cabin is a good lounge area with corner sofa, coffee table and TV/DVD. The kitchen and dining area are open plan leading into the lounge giving a large living space. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee machine and toaster.
There is a larger dining table with bench seating for approx 8 people.
There is a family bathroom with shower and attached sauna on the ground level as well as a second toilet with wash basin on the same level. A third small bathroom is located on the mezzanine. The stairs to the mezzanine have a child safety gate. Leading from the lounge area is the door to the back verandah where you can sit after a traditional sauna on wooden stools! The view into the forest is unspoilt and lovely.
In the entrance lobby there is an electric clothes/boots dryer.

The Lapland region
Akaslompolo is a magical winter wonderland that both grown ups and children will fall in love with. If you are lucky then you will also see the spell bounding beauty of the evening Northern lights. The village is surrounded by the 7 fells of Yllas. The Yllas fell is where the down hill ski fields are. There are a total of 61 runs 29 of which are flood lit, there are also 320km of cross country ski tracks winding their way around this magical snow covered village and the surrounding woodland. The first time we went on our winter wonderland experience we visited for 7 days and we had trouble fitting every thing into our stay. The walks around the forest, the reindeer rides, the husky sledging, the skiing, the skidoing and other activities will leave you short of time.
Yllas is in a unique area of Europe. It is lucky enough to be able to guarantee snow throughout the ski season. The temperature in the winter months can vary between -5 and -30, which means the air is crisp and clear but not damp. In the summer months, after the snow has melted to reveal once again the soft green landscape. You can get away to the peace and solitude, where the reindeer out number the locals. It is time to start walking the hills and enjoying the flora and fauna that were previously asleep under the snow. All this while enjoying the unique experience of the midnight sun. In the summer months it can get up to +30 and the sun doesn't set.
Akaslompolo area
In Akaslompolo (short walk) there is a well stocked supermarket, several hotels with restaurants, restaurants, bars, sports shops, souvenir shops and a post office.
The Akas Hotel has a swimming pool you can pay to use.
A local bus service will take you up to the nearby ski slopes. Taxi's are available to bring you from the airport to resort (40 mins).
Why not consider hiring a car. The price compared to the taxi fares are very reasonable and its not scary to drive on the roads. The car gives you the freedom to drive to the ski slopes, take a visit to Levi and surrounding areas or go off and visit the Ice Hotel at a cheaper rate than doing the tour.
How to get there
Flights are regularly available during the winter months.
The best flights are weekly and we have used a company called Ski-Flights on www.ski-flights.com.
They fly into Kittila from Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester.

Further details indoors: There is plenty of wardrobe space in both bedrooms and in the main entrance. Wood is provided for the log burner. There are plenty of free plastic sledges around the resort. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern appliances as well as plates, cutlery and glasses.
