"WOW The cabin was amazing!!!"
Have just returned from our first Lapland holiday in Yllas. Wow was definately not dissapointed!! We would definately recommend using Finnair, they were so helpful at the airport as we had older nans and grandads with us. On arrival at the Iso Kaarnika log cabin we were to say the least over the moon...think picture postcard! Immaculately clean, absolute luxury top to bottom,we soon had the beautiful log fire burning from the massive stack of logs that the owner surplied, but to be honest it was so lovely and warm in the cabin that most of the time the kids were running around in there undies! Everything was provided, even toys and sledges for the kids. The bedrooms were lovely, lots of extra bedding was available but really not needed even though some nights it was -20! Lovely mezzanine floor overlooked the lounge area so it just felt so easy to be able to watch over the kids playing. The shower room was huge with double showers and really hot water and off that room was a sauna.....much to the nan and grandads delight! We took the sledges out all the time, using them as transport for the little ones with aching legs. It was a few minutes walk to the supermarket which stocked everything and was reasonably priced. Must do the snow mobiling from Snow Fun Safaris, it was so good we did it nearly every day, got a real feel for Lapland whizzing through snow laden trees! Did a little bit of snowboarding at Yllas ski centre, was lovely for the kids there and was actually quite quiet, cooked sausages on an open fire at the bottom of the slope which was a real novelty for the kids. All i can say is, this is something you must do in a lifetime, its an experiance you'll never forget. so much so......we're going back to Iso kaarnika next christmas!

"Great house, great holiday, everything perfect"
We've stayed at Iso Kaarnika for one week and were absolutely fascinated by what we found in the house and around it.
The house was very clean and we found so many practial things there - from the cloth dryer in the entrance to the baby bathtub. We have a one year old baby, so the owner gave us a free upgrade to this house as they thougt it was perfect to us. And we found absolutely everything in the house that we needed for the baby, including toys ;-)
There was something for each of us that made the home special. My mother loved the piano very much, my husband installed a snow bar in front of the house, I loved the sauna from which you get directly into the snow and the fully equiped kitchen.
The house is very homelike. The organisation by abovethearctic was perfect.
We found several suppliers of snow safaris and nice restaurants in the village. There is also a big super market. You have everything you need, but also silence and peace. The best thing was that we could see the northern lights directly from the house. We were driving around a little bit to find a place where we could see them even better. But we found out that we could see them the best around the house, as it is a little bit higher than the rest and it is very dark in the neighbourhood.
We're definitley going to stay there again.
Thank you, Jenny, for that great stay!

"A truly magical holiday"
We stayed in Iso Kaarnikka at the end of November 2011. On arrival at the cabin we were amazed at just how stunning the cabin and surrounding areas were. The cabin is in excellent condition and we could not fault it in anyway. It is very spacious and would easily accommodate a large party. The cabin had various sledges and a kick sledge which kept the little and big ones happy whilst out playing in the snow. A ten minute walk and you are in the village centre, with different restaurants and bars to choose from. You are never far away from a ski bus stop which takes you up to the slopes and its very often you get cross country skiers fly past you. We were never bored with a host of different activities from Skidoos to reindeer / husky rides. Everyone we met was very friendly and keen to help. The best part of the trip by far for us was when Santa along with sleigh pulled by reindeer visited us at the cabin. An experience that will stay with us forever and one I would definately recommend to others, however you could visit him at his house which is just down the road. If you are looking for a truly magical trip and want to stay in a fantastic log cabin then book Iso Kaarnikka as you will not be disappointed.
