Home description
This charming cottage comprises a fully equipped open plan Provencal style kitchen with large lounge/dining area opening onto the pool terrace. The 2 bedrooms have doors opening onto the garden. One has a double bed, the second has 2 single beds plus a roll out bed. The cottage comfortably sleeps 5 people but will accommodate 6 with the use of the sofa bed in the lounge. Should you visit us during the cooler seasons, the cottage is fully centrally heated. La Pitchounette is perfectly located for exploring Provence. The Mediterranean coast with its beaches and quaint fishing ports from the Carmargue in the west to the chic resorts of the Cote d'Azur in the east. Inland you can discover the historic towns of Aix, Arles and Avignon etc and the perched villages, vineyards and lavendar fields of the Luberon. We have been living here for the past 6 years, so can provide much information on all aspects of the area. Available in the cottage is a folder packed with brochures, maps and personal recommendations - restaurants, beaches, vineyards etc. We would like to share our knowledge of this fantastic area of France with you and hope you will come and discover some of the pleasures we have had the good fortune to experience.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Bouches-du-Rhone region
La Pitchounette is perfectly located for exploring Provence. Aix En Provence is one of the most popular cities in France. Dating back to Roman times, it has developed around the natural thermal springs. It was the home of the artist Cézanne and is famed for it's many historical buildings, winding cobbled streets and numerous cafés and restaurants. The Meditarranean coast is easily accessible, from the Camargue nature reserve in the west onto the unspoilt beaches of the Cote Bleu to the multicultural city of Marseille. Explore the Calanques (the fjords of Provence) by boat or on foot. Visit the quaint fishing ports of Cassis, Bandol and Sanary. The famous Cote d'Azur resorts of St. Tropez, Cannes and Antibes are just over an hours drive. Inland, to the north of Gréasque is the Luberon where you can visit the spectacular hilltop villages of Menerbes, Gordes, Roussillon and take the opportunity to sample the wine produced in this famous region.
Aix En Provence / Greasque area
La Pitchounette is situated on the outskirts of the unspoilt village of Gréasque in the heart of southern Provence, with Aix En Provence just 11 miles to the north and the picturesque port and beach of Cassis on the Mediterranean coast just 30 minutes to the south. Gréasque is an ancient coal mining village which has witnessed the entire history of this industry in Provence. The Hély d'Oissel mineshaft has been renovated and transformed into a museum. In the grounds of the 17th century chateau there is a small open air theatre which is used during summer by visiting and local theatre groups. The large forest surrounding the village offers numerous leisure activities including trails for hiking/jogging, horseriding and mountain biking. In the village itself there are cafés/bars, bakeries and twice a week, the local market selling local produce. There is something to interest everyone!
How to get there
Marseille (Marignane) Intl. Airport (40 mins from Gréasque) is served by major airlines such as British Airways from the UK and Air France from Paris and other French regional airports. It is also served by some of the UK budget airlines (eg Ryanair and Easyjet) who fly from London and other British regional airports. These budget airlines also serve the regional airports of Nîmes and Toulon (approx. 60 mins from Gréasque). Nice Intl. Airport is approx. 90 mins. away. The TGV train to both Aix En Provence and Marseille takes just 3 hours from Paris and links with the UK Eurostar. Car hire is available at all airports and both TGV stations
