Villa | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Casa del faro is a lovely small house with a wonderful terrace with a great sea view. The house is located in Linosa one of the Pelagie Islands. Linosa, chosen as a location for the film Terra ferma by Crialese, is a small, beautiful volcanic island halfway between the coasts of Sicily and Tunisia. The house has a kitchen area equipped with a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom with shower. Outside there is also a good shower and a barbecue. The island is reachable by hydrofoil (high season only) or ferry boat from the port of Porto Empedocle. Normally, the ferry departs at midnight and arrives at 6 am (except Friday). The hydrofoil leaves at 3pm and arrives at 6pm. Linosa is very small so you will be able to easily get around on foot, by bike or motorcycle (to be rented on the island). You can also rent boats to go around the island or to go in search of berte (shearwaters) at sunset. On the western beach of the pozzolana beach turtles (caretta caretta) come to lay their eggs and you can see their baby turtles if you are lucky enough. The island is very easy to go from the ground due to the presence of 2 roads that cross it in full. There is plenty of access to the sea. On the island there are several bar and restaurants, 2 supermarkets, a pharmacy, a doctor, two clubs. If you love scuba diving Linosa is a paradise; besides it offers great opportunities to do sea watching. The seas of Linosa fall quickly to great depths You should visit Linosa not only for its landscape but also to enjoy its traditional food and its delicious fresh fish. You should also try the 'salad of Linosa' a wonderful local lentil soup and couscous just to remember that you are closer to Africa than Italy...

The Sicily region
Sicily, right in the heart of the Mediterranean sea, has a cultural heritage unsurpassed by any other holiday destination. It's array of historical rulers have provided the island with unique architecture, art and traditions. The coastline is dramatic and beautiful (like the people) and the towns are a bustling hubbub of activities.
In the centre of the island sits the majestic Mt Etna, a still active volcano. A trip to the top is a must.
Being in Italy, and having such a rich history, Sicily has a wonderful selection of food & drink. The various cultures and natural local produce combine to make dishes that can be found nowhere else in the world.
