About this location

The Ionian Islands region

Corfu is the second largest island of the Ionian Sea and it covers an area of 592 square kilometers and a luxuriant coastline of 217 kilometers.

It is situated in the north side of the Ionian Sea, in the entrance of the Adriatic Sea, two and a half miles from the beach of Albania.

The mythical island of the Faiakes is an ornament of the Ionian Sea, but it is also one of the most beautiful islands in Greece, combining the green mountains and the long sandy beaches.

The mild and rainy climate of the island brings out the rich flora which creates the unique color of the island.

Agni is a very nice bay with some excellent tavernas, you can hire a boat here and go along the beautiful bays or you can take a car and go around.

In the area of Agni there are some more bays where it is nice to go for a swim, taverna or a coffee to bays like Krouzeri, Kaminaki or Nisaki itself and more to the North of Agni, the bays Kerasia, Avlaki and Agios Stephanos.

After Kassiopi up in the mountains there is an old deserted village called OLD PERITHEA, to get the feeling of the old days on Corfu, with some tavernas.

Coming down from this mountain there is a quiet bay called Agios Spyridon. Which is not deep and ideal for very small children.

Further drive around in the center part of Corfu through all those small traditional villages such as Varipatades, Kouramades and so on.

In Palaiokastritsa you can do the grotto tour and a little bit higher there is Angelokastro, one of the most important Byzantine castles of Greece.

For children there is a large Waterpark called Aqualand at a distance of 30 minutes.

Booking any villa in a new destination is a process full of trepidation. Both Villa Amalthea and Agni were as much if not more than we had hoped for. An area full of activities, great food and yet wit… More

"Unforgettable Greek holiday at Villa Amalthea"

I usually never write reviews, but this time I can't help it. We spent a fabulous week with our friends at Villa Amalthea in July. Our party had 8 people including children and villa has plenty of space for everyone. It is a modern beautiful house, air-conditioned and tastefully furnished. It is conveniently located only 5 minutes of walk from the beach where you find three very nice restaurants. If you prefer you may order a delivery from one of them and had dinner at the terrace enjoying the spectacular view.
It is a very good place for snorkeling and I would recommend renting a boat. We took boat trips twice traveling north along the coast where you will find beautiful secluded beaches accessible only from the sea. I would also recommend renting a car at the airport if you want to explore the island especially Corfu Town. It is about forty minutes from the villa to the south.
It was an unforgettable Greek holiday and we would be very happy to go back again. May be one day.
