We have invested heavily in quality, so Shamrock Cottage is not the cheapest but its amongst the best. We guarantee a luxury stay in one of Ireland’s Premier Cottages.
Rowena and her family have stayed twice and this is what Rowena says “Irish Cottages is a fabulous place for a holiday 'away from it all'. The cottages are extremely well furnished and everything you should need is there for you. You are welcomed warmly on arrival and nothing is too much trouble for staff to sort out for you. I would recommend Irish Cottages to anyone who is looking for a 5* self-catering holiday in beautiful Irish countryside. Rating 5 out of 5.”
Ruth stayed with her family and says, “This is a group of gorgeous self catering cottages in Ireland. They overlook and are right next to Lough Erne, perfect for launching a kayak and fishing. The cottages are beautiful, so relaxing and genuinely 5 star quality. The attention to detail in the cottages is amazing - the kitchen is better equipped than mine, the flowers and wine and welcome pack on arrival a lovely touch! And the kids loved it (there is a play area and lots of space!). We had grand plans to go out and ended up relaxing on the patio, kayaking from the cottage and not getting out of bed until midday (unheard of with children!!!). If you go, take a glass of wine to the hot tub. It's divine.”
You have worked hard, so reward yourself by relaxing in the peace and quiet of the beautiful Fermanagh countryside at Shamrock Cottage - your ideal five star luxury cottage that combines the charm of the traditional country cottage with a fully equipped and modern interior and beautiful furnishing. WiFi available so you can keep in touch with your world if you wish to, whilst hidden away in the heart of the countryside. Shared hot tub available to make your stay really special. One of four cottages available from Irish Cottages. You'll love Lough Erne and the rugged Donegal coastline.
With Lough Erne literally right outside your door, you will be assured of magical moods and stunning views. You can stroll by serene tranquil waters, framed by mellow mists, and rolling hillsides in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The County Fermanagh region

It is a place with heart. Friendly people will greet you warmly. It is also a place of beautiful views, hazy mountains, rugged coastline and rugged countryside.
Devenish Island - one of the largest of the 200 islands of Lough Erne - the site of the ruins of an abbey and of a perfect 12th century round tower, reached by ferry (about 20 mins drive)
Castle Coole - a magnificent neo-classical house, the family home of the Earls of Belmore, with remarkably fine interiors (about 20 mins drive)
Florence Court - built in mid eighteenth century in magnificent rococo style. The house has been meticulously restored (about 30 mins drive)
Marble Arch Caves - magnificent Mesozoic limestone caves (about 30 mins drive)
Enniskillen Castle - incorporating The Regimental Museum, The Watergate History and Heritage Centre (about 20 mins drive)
In County Donegal visit:
Glenveagh National Park & Gardens - Glenveagh National Park lies in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains in the north-west of Co. Donegal. It is a remote and hauntingly beautiful wilderness of rugged mountains and pristine lakes. The Park, over 14,000 acres in extent consists of three areas. Glenveagh is the haunt of many rare and interesting plants and animals and is famous for it’s fine herd of red deer. (about an hour's drive)
Sandy Beaches - nearby are the beautiful Donegal coast sandy beaches of Murvagh, Rossnowlagh, Mullaghmore and Rosses Point (about 15 mins drive)
The Aghnablaney / Leggs area
Start your holiday or short break in splendid peace and quiet. When you are ready to venture out you'll find:
A lovely woodland walk up Aghnablaney/Derrin Mountain (more of a hill than a mountain!) with superb views over the open countryside and lough.
The most local pub is about 3 minutes drive, where you can enjoy great atmosphere, meet the very friendly locals and join in the variety of weekly activities. Opens from 9pm until late!
Good pub food at the Pettigo Inn, in the local village of Pettigo (about 5 minutes drive). Again, great atmosphere and friendly local people.
Local shops of reasonable size in the local village of Kesh (about 10 minutes drive). A good range of cosy pubs, good food, atmosphere and friendly locals.
Hire a bicycle and enjoy the Pettigo History Trail. You will discover Pettigo has a huge history for a small town - an enjoyable day out.
Hire a bicycle and take in beauty of the surrounding countryside - cards with local cycle routes available in the cottage.
Castle Caldwell Forest - RSPB reserve. Shore walks, castle ruins and picnic areas. (About 5 mins drive). Great place for an early morning run in the dew or mist on Lough Erne.

Guestbook for Shamrock Cottage
"These 5* Cottages are exactly that...5 star! The cottages are situated at the top of Lough Erne close to Boa Island and we found them ideally placed to be able to access both the attractions on the Lough as well as the West coast towns and beaches like Bundoran and Rossnowlagh. We stayed in Bluebell Cottage and everything is immaculate. The cottages are spotless and very well equipped. Highly recommended. Rating 5 out of 5", Alan, Aug 2010
