About the home

Villa Theano is a luxury 4 bedroom Villa with a private pool, which is situated on the outskirts of the sophisticated resort of Agios Nikolaos.
This impressive villa stands in its own grounds boasting wonderful views to the front of the town, sea and Bay of Mirabello.

Facilities

Further details indoors:
Electric gates open out onto a large parking area and lead to the front door. Once inside you cannot help but be impressed with the spacious living accommodation and the ground floor is all open plan, which gives a light airy feel to the villa. The very well fitted kitchen boasts an American style fridge/freezer with ice-making machine, microwave, dishwasher and built in espresso/cappuccino coffee machine. The dining area is next to the kitchen and has seating for eight. Whilst the lounge, with its feature fireplace, has comfy sofas and chairs and is centred around the home cinema system which includes CD, DVD, Playstation 2 and satellite TV.

Wireless internet connection is also available, please bring your own adaptable computer. There is also a utility room, which houses the washing machine and tumble drier. Patio doors stretch the length of the house, making the full use of Theanos position and those beautiful views of the pool and the sea beyond.

A curved wooded staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find the air-conditioned master double bedroom with en-suite shower room, which has hydro massage steam shower. Patio doors lead onto a large terrace, which makes the most of those amazing views and this is also a peaceful place for that private sunbathing. There are two further air-conditioned pretty bedrooms, a twin and a double, that share a most elegant bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. The fourth air-conditioned bedroom is reached via a small staircase from the first floor to a turret type room with en-suite shower room and fabulous views across Mirabello Bay. All bedrooms have their own TV and a hairdryer is provided in all bathrooms. Finally, the owner provides bathrobes, one per person, for the duration of your holiday.

Outside there is a formal patio fronting the lounge area this leads down a few steps to the terraces, lawns and pool. The pool with its mosaic design is one of the major attractions of this lovely villa. It is 9.5 meters long and has steps in either corner, but no shallow end (2.2m deep). It features a Jacuzzi and reverse swim jet. Finally, at the bottom of the lawned garden there is a brick built barbeque with a wood burning oven. It is set beneath a large wooden pergola and features a grand solid teak table and chairs, an ideal venue for outside dining and watching the sun go down over the Bay of Mirabello.

The Crete region

Agios Nikolaos, with over forty years of experience in the tourism industry, is an international and cosmopolitan resort that welcomes thousands of visitors annually.

The lake is its most charming feature. Legend suggests that Athena and Armetis bathed in its waters. This lake is connected to the sea by a straight channel, while its natural surroundings of red rock and trees attract the visitor magnetically.

At a small open-air theatre by the lake, locals and visitors alike can enjoy interesting artistic and cultural presentations. A walk around the shops of Aghios Nikolaos is an enjoyable experience. In the many stores the visitor can find a wide selection of traditional Cretan artwork, copies of pieces from different archaeological museums, jewellery, and embroidery.

There are also many examples of woven goods and Byzantine icons.
There are bustling cafeterias, charming coffee houses and taverns serving traditional Cretan Mezedes or tidbits of local food.

The Aghios Nikolaos area

Elounda, Spinalonga, Plaka, Lassithi, Kritsa, Ierapetra and Chrissi Island are all nearby and well worth a visit.

You can find innumerable opportunities for night-time entertainment at a variety of bars and discos. Visit the outdoor summer cinema ”Christina” where the surrounding walls are covered by honeysuckle, or find other places of entertainment where genuine Cretan feasts are always accompanied by local wine or strong raki.
A high quality and range of athletic facilities provides professional athletes and sports fans, and local and visiting amateur athletes with the opportunity to get involved in any sports. There is a football pitch, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, beach volley facilities, mini-golf and swimming pools, all providing the opportunity for exercise and fun.

“lovely villa, fantastic views an absolute gem.” Beautiful villa, spacious, modern, very clean with all mod cons. Very luxurious with fantastic veiws. The pool was great and the veiws over the bay of mirabella were wonderful. The owner was very helpful but did not bother us unnecessarily and we felt at home. A wonderful holiday in a spectacular location.

“Fantastic Villa and Service” Our family and friends, a group of 8, stayed at Villa Theano in July 2011. The Villa was perfect, extremely comfortable, spacious and well equipped with spectacular views over the sea and town of Agios Nikolaos. Villa Theano is located approximately 3km from the town centre and is walkable if needed, although there is a good taxis service recommended by the villa owner. The villa owners couldn't do enough for us, organising taxis, recommending places to visit and eat and even providing fresh vegetables from the villa gardens. The villa was cleaned twice a week to a very high standard, providing fresh bedding and towels. Agios Nikolaos was a lovely place, great beaches, restaurants, bars and shops. We would highly recommend Villa Theano, we had a wonderful holiday there and would happily recommend it to anyone. The BBQ, Pizza Oven and outside dining area were particularly impressive.

“The Vest Villa We Ever Stayed Among Many Ithers!” We were 2 families, in total 9 adults. Stayed in the Theano villa for 3 nights. The Villa is High standard equipped and Excellent maintained. The welcome package was much more then standard including many surprises. Yannis and his son Antonis are running the place. Both are very gentle. Yannis took us for a quick "guided tour" to see all needed places such as supermarket, butcher etc. Antonis gave us a lot of useful information on restaurants and places of interest in the area. We passed wonderful time and I am quite sure that we will come again for longer time.

“Exceeded expectation (better than the pics!)” I have just returned from a week long stay at Villa Theano with friends and am extremely happy with our stay. The Villa is plush, clean, fully equipped, and with stunning views. It is often the way that a Villa or accommodation looks worse in real life than it does in the pictures, but i am actually very surprised to say that with Villa Theano, it is the complete opposite. The condition of the rooms and outside areas exceeds how it looks in the pictures. For example, all rooms have beautiful tall apex-ed ceilings with exposed wooden beam joists which gives such an expansive feel to the rooms (i like architecture :)). For some people this is a stunning feature, but this goes ignored in the advertised pictures as there is too much goodness to show :) All rooms are air-conditioned, with televisions, safes (handy), towels, bathrobes. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you could need, a great coffee machine, ice maker, living room has a huge TV with a fantastic sound system adjacent to the outside, should you want to hear music by the pool too. BBQ is fantastic, as well as a clay oven! The views are breath taking, i could go on and on and on, you honestly would want for nothing at this place, we were even asked what extras would we want that weren't included and struggled to think of even frivolous things, as the main one we wanted was wifi internet, which is of course included. In fact, all we could think of was inflatable lilos to relax on in the pool, but we have since purchased these and left them for future visitors to enjoy! (They are neatly stored way out of view in the many storage cupboards downstairs, should you not be interested in these kinds of things) For the money it is fantastic value. Downstairs the open plan makes you feel free, and upstairs the rooms are private enough for you to get your quality alone time. This is a legitimate review and not done by any family friend of the owners! lol. I was just so impressed by the service, and also the fact that he is shipping me some things that i forgot in the Villa that leaving an absolutely glowing review is the least I could do. "Our vacation at Villa Theano was a great experience to start off our Greece trip. We spent a week at the Vergetakis home in late May and were treated extremely well. The whole family was very hospitable and went out of their way to provide directions and assistance wherever required. The home itself was very clean, modern, well appointed and one that we be happy to return to on our next trip to the area. The home is situated in a very tranquil setting just a few minutes from Agios Nikolaos. A car is necessary for your stay here. The only thing that surprised was the fact the swimming pool was not heated and as the weather was still a little cool in May we did not use the pool like we might have had the water been warmer. There is much to do in the area and the tavernas and beaches are very good. We will return! "

Even better than the pictures, inside and out, and spacious!
Outstanding service by the owner: detailed directions when you get close to the villa and winding around the narrow streets, some drinks and groceries for breakfast in the fridge, genuinely interested in anything missing or needed to make our stay (and your stay) even better.
Good location: There are many beaches up and down the coast, with few villas actually on the beach much less for rent. This villa is only a few minutes drive to the Aghios Nicolas waterfront area with restaurants and shops. Villa is on a hillside with a nice view (owner's father has a huge garden beyond the backyard grass in the photo). If you have kids or teenagers, it is less than an hour to some nice waterparks or to the many busy beaches in Malia with motrorized watersports (our 3 kids went parasailing all together on one parachute).
Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

my families first time in Crete and first time booking a villa independently. And we will return to crete and never use a travel agent again!
The power of the internet has made this possible, and gives you a feeling of independents and a lovely thought that you are getting more for your money!
The villa was beautiful and the surprise was the villa was better than the on line pictures, so lovely to see my family grin from ear to ear as we first walked through the door, then telling the adults of for playing with some of the many gagdets on show.
The views were like a postcard and the atmosphere relaxing and this was helped with the knowledge that any problems we might have with any aspect of the holiday, would of been addressed immediately by a very honest and genuine host. thank you!
