Home description
Open all year round, our town apartment is ideal for those not wanting to hire a car - beaches shops and tavernas all within an easy walking distance but one of the few town accommodation which has a stunning seaview - no buildings in front - looking over the bay of Mirabello with the Sitia Mountains making an amazing backdrop. We may not have a swimming pool but a wonderful clean clear beach right in front of us!
The apartment is suitable for the elderly too as unlike most of the town we are on a flat road - no hills or many steps to climb. Lift within building. However for the younger generation we are near the athletic grounds and tourists are able to use the track to keep in training! Anne enjoys walking so is pleased to take clients out into the hills along gorges and old minoan paths and visiting churches and monasteries. see link for sunday times recommendation: http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style /travel/destinations/greece/article2234138.ece or look on www.timesonline.co.uk and type in ' trailblazing Crete ' in search box. She has been here for 30 years so has a mine of information to help you enjoy your holiday to the fullest.

The Crete region
The temperatures range from 10-17degrees during the winter and 17-36 during the rest of the year. The east part of the island gets little rain so makes a winter visit a possibility. Being a large island you can come again and again but still find another corner to visit.
In Lasithi county there are over 100 gorges and numerous mountain ranges which drop down suddenly to the sea making the landscape stunning.Spring is a popular time for flowers - many rare species only found in Crete - fields of orchids. The beaches here are very clean (many have the blue flags) and safe (no need for red flags) - scuba diving and sailing and fishing trips are on offer. Water parks are about 45 - 60 minutes away. You could sit on a beach all day but there is so much to see there is always something to do.
Aghios Nikolaos area
Agios Nikolaos is an ideal place to centre yourselves as there are beaches and mountains near at hand. The town is large enough to make an enjoyable stroll but not to big to get lost! Though the 18-30 club moved out years ago - hence we don't have trouble - there are still bars for those who want it - but of course in the summer it is much nicer to sit outside in the cafes watching the world go by. There are many tavernas so you can sample the Cretan food but of course European tastes are available.
Throughout the year there are many festivals - carnival time is in February, Easter is our big celebration with the burning of Judas on the lake - and candles lit around - an unusual sight. There is a local cinema which brings all the latest films and throughout the summer there are concerts, cretan dance and song performances, village festivals - bee, bread and wine. A traditional cretan wedding at Kritsa open to the public is quite an eye opener - you can visit the bride's house decorated in the old cretan style, see her being dressed for the ceremony and taken to church on a donkey and of course attend the ceremony and the reception. Finally on September 27th Tourism Day a huge concert takes place where free food and drink is offered.
Visit the Spinalonga Island - a former Leper Colony and Venetian Fortress - a boat's ride away. The local musuem gives you an insight to the minoan sites around the area. Also many interesting monasteries and Byzantine churches must be put at the top of the list for visits.

Guestbook for Seaview Bousoulas
My parents, both in their 80's, have stayed at these apartments many times. They love the warm welcome from the fantastic owners and were so glad Anne was there to help them when they needed it Mrs V from Somerset 2006 Fantastic, panoramic view of the marina and across the bay. These facilities are in a superb location, handy for the main attractions and yet, in a quieter area of the town, which suited us perfectly. The facilities were spotless and the owners were equally brilliant and attentive . . . nothing was a problem and they made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended! Mr MacMillan, Jun 2007, Very much enjoyed our stay and was very warmly welcomed by Anne The weather at that time changed from snow to sun which added to our enjoyment of Crete.Mr Swaddling, Feb 2008
