The Crete region
The Prefecture of Lassithi lies in the east of Crete, offering gorgeous beaches, and a huge, lush plateau, covered in archaeological treasures and beautiful places to walk. This quieter region of Crete is the perfect place to take a top class beach holiday, yet still be able to immerse yourself in the traditional way of life.
Awarded no less than 32 European Blue Flags for the cleanliness of its many beaches means that whether you go in search of a blissfully secluded cove beach or a large, sweeping beach adorned with beach bars and endless facilities, you are almost certain to find a clean, safe beach. The larger beaches are almost certain to offer water skiing, sailing, windsurfing and diving opportunities, as well as the chance to go deep sea fishing off the shores of the island. There are also a variety of scuba diving centres scattered across this side of Crete.
The inland regions of Lassithi are also quite remarkable. Towering sandstone cliffs are scoured with deep valleys and deep, blue lakes, making it the ideal location for hang gliding, hiking, climbing, caving, mountain biking, fishing and walking, and catching sight of eagles and falcons.
Aghios Nikolaos / Elounda area
Elounda is quietly becoming a renowned tourist resort on the coastline of Lassithi for all the right resons. Tranquillity can still be be found with stunning shaded beaches and crystal still waters giving you a magical mix of Greek charm, yet with modern facilities and a great number of activities on offer. After a day at the villa, on the beach or in the water snorkelling, Elounda town is particularly good place to sample that famous Cretan cuisine. A lively bar /restaurant or a quieter taverna by the harbour is your choice.
The Ancient city of Olous was settled in Minoan times and today its ruins can be found in the sea after they subsided or sunk because of a landslide or large earthquake.
Within easy reach, travel a short distance by the coastal road with its amazing scenery to Plaka and Agios Nikolaos, two contrasting towns in opposite directions both worthy of a visit.
Plaka just 4 km away with its charming and hidden shops & restaurants from where you can look out directly onto the Bay of Mirabello & Crete's 'jewel in the crown' the Isle of Spinalonga, ' Isle of Tears' the most famous isle on Crete and wonder at its remarkable history. Once a Venetian fortress and in recent history a former leper colony up to 1957, and soon to be the focus of a movie from the book 'Island' by Victoria Hislop.
Hard to resist dipping in the crystal clear sea from the pebble beach or driving up into the hills to look down over Spinalonga and the whole bay through to Elounda, a dramatic view. Plaka is an ideal village for walking as it is quite flat and perfect for ambling around. For the more adventurous there is also the opportunity to walk the coastal cliff paths affording wonderful views of the village and surrounding mountains where eagles and falcons are often seen.
Agios Nikolaos (9km) on the other hand is more vibrant with its fine array of shops and restaurants and much more. Ask any taxi to take you to 'the Lake in Ag. Nik' , this most charming feature connected to the sea by a straight channel in its natural surrounding of red rock and trees will attract and mesmerises you.
At the small open air theatre by the lake locals & visitors alike can often enjoy musical & dance presentations. You will find the 'Square' at the centre of town with its memorial surrounded by orange trees, where from here in every direction you will find something of interest be it the towns shops, its beach, the lake or the Marina.

Guestbook for Villa Anatoli
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the villa this year. We would love to return perhaps in 2011, well stay in touch. Its a beautiful plot, we had a brilliant time, stars amazing, sunrise incredible. Kind regards Guests Sept 09
Sarah & Sean Henley on Thames, UK Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 The ideal place for our family holiday - fell in love with it all the moment we arrived in Elounda. The villa really is luxury with the most spectacular view - I couldn't think of a better way to be spending my days, reading a good book, glass of local rose in hand watching the view, listening to the kids playing in the pool. Lots to explore, lots of restaurants to eat in and lots of beach to visit. Any problems were sorted quickly. Booked for next year already!! Sarah and Sean
Date of Arrival : Jun 22, 2009 Name on Contract : Aron Gelbard Review Rating : 5/5 Review Title : 267165 - "Beautiful and very relaxing" "Amazing villa with great living room and pool area and games room + tennis court, so lots to keep you entertained. Decent bedrooms, all en suite. Beautiful views. Villa is very remote / peaceful at the top of a dirt track above Elounda. Elounda itself is quiet but plenty of life in Agios Nikolaos which is 20 mins drive away."
First villa experiance Vernon B United Kingdom Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: 2nd-9th June 2009 We have never stayed at a villa before and so it is not possible for me to compare with any any other villa, but I cannot imagine that there could be anything much better. We were a family of 7 adults and 2 children. All had a wonderful time. When we arrived at the villa we were all astounded by the views, and the villa itself. It had everything that you could wish for.The climb up to the the villa is quite steep in parts, but worth it when you get there for the peace and quiet..Everything describing the villa was true and I thoroughly recommend this villa . Vernon

The villa is stunning and everything the website promised. Paul and Lenny at Bluebay really helped to make the visit special by arranging flowers and champagne for our arrival, which really kicked the holiday off in style. The views from the villa are to die for, however the road up to the villa was 'rustic'! Whilst Elounda was just about walking distance, it was not for the faint hearted in the dark! However, the villa is so special we could forgive this small inconvenience. We will definitely be back. "
The 'Cantwells - London Date of Stay: April 28th -5th May 2009 ( Sept 08) We have been to this beautiful villa for short breaks with friends and family three times now and everytime it NEVER disappoints. The views are to die for, the villas' decor is superb, the bar-b-q area lends to fun and social gatherings after a day spent around the good size swimming pool, the games room is well equipped and where can you play tennis with such a fantastic outlook?

Weather was beginning to turn, but the villa is just as nice when you have to sit indoors to admire the view! Bright, spacious and very well equipped. Stunning view down over Spinalonga. The guide books in the drawers were a useful extra as we had forgotten ours. If you like warm silent evenings, high up on a hillside above Elounda with absolutley no noise except the local wildlife, you will love this place. Maybe a wee bit too isoloted for those who like to be close to Elounda cafe society - 5 min drive over steep, rough tracks or a good 15-20 min walk down into town (and back up). We had teenage kids with us, who had a great time. "
We had a wonderful holiday in Crete and the highlight was your very special house overlooking Spinalonga and that calm blue water. The weather was windy and hot and the alternative of the pool and tennis court was too alluring for us to venture to places that we should have visited. Incidentally your pool man was great. He made sure the pool was sparkling and gave us good input on the area. Thank you for the generous "welcome pack" We would certainly think of another holiday probably end May or early June. Regards Judy and George Beeton (18th - 24th August 2008
Dear Jeff and Elaine Thanks for a wonderful break and opportunity to stay in complete luxury whilst enjoying the marvellous simplicity and gracious hospitality of Crete and the Cretan people. We relished the stunning views of the bay and islands, devoured the history of the island and started to explore the sights and lifestyles of the locals. Local knowledge ( Via your pool service man ) led us to a real Greek Taverna in Limnes near Neapoli, where the villagers were celebrating 2 christenings, and we had a delicious meal. We loved the market in Ag Nik, bought loads of run ripened fruit and veg and even managed to buy some fresh sea-bass. Our evenings were generally spent playing tennis and swimming before the huge red van that I hired trundled into Elounda to drop the kids off. I think we all returned relaxed, and hungry for more of the Cretan experience. I shall have no hesitation in recommending your home to friends, family and business associates, and wish you every success in the future. Thanks again Jean Diesel (August 08)
The scenery from the villa was as stunning as it was described. A lovely villa & pool. We will be back, thats for sure. The Hunter family
