Further details

As a self-catering holiday you need not feel abandoned or alone. Tony and Virginia live above the apartment and are on hand to offer the best service and assistance at all times - starting with collection from the airport and ending with the trip back - and don't forget most self-catering holidays charge extra for this!

A welcome pack is included, which includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter, water, olive oil, washing-up liquid, hand-wash, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls - on arrival.

The Crete region

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and furthest south, not that far from the north coast of Africa - hence it's hot climate!

It's history is fascinating - beginning with the the oldest civilisation in Europe - the Minoans - to its occupation by the Romans, the Venetians, the Turks, and finally by the Germans in WW2. Crete did not become part of Greece until 1913! So it is left with a huge variety of architecture and ancient monuments dating back 3500 years, including the world-famous Knossos Palace in Heraklion.

But if you've just come for the sunshine, there are plenty of modern ways of having fun!

Aghios Nikolaos

Elounda is a small town which grew from a fishing port (which it is still today) to a tourist resort because of its outstanding scenery. It still retains its small-town charm but has plenty of attractions with its Blue Flag beaches and tavernas, cafes and bars. Nearby is the famous island of Spinalonga, which was a major island-fort in Venetian and Turkish times, but subsequently became a leper colony up until 1953.

Just 9 kilometres away is the major resort of Aghios Nikolaos, with its port, marina, shops and all the facilities you would expect from a modern tourist centre.

Also Tony has a good knowledge of the history of Crete and may be available to take guests on private tours to some interesting places within a day's drive of Elounda.

"The perfect couples getaway with beautiful views of Elounda"

Even before the holiday began, Tony and Virginia were in contact and organising our personal transfer with Tony from the airport to the apartment. Throughout the holiday they were warm, welcoming and gave great advice on the sights to see in Crete.

The apartment has a modern decor throughout, is well maintained inside as well as outside, has a fabulous terrace with a beautiful view of Elounda bay, and even comes with bread, milk and tea to start you off!

Being so close Elounda's centre and with two traditional local taverna's less than a minutes walk was perfect for an evening out experiencing local culture.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have been recommending Apartment Georgia to friends and family!

"Apartment with Stunning views"

Stayed here for two weeks in October 2012. Fantastic location and holiday from the moment Tony collects you at the airport. Booking was extremely easy and description on web site accurate. All the equipment needed in the kitchen is there and there is also the use of a washing machine. The stop at the supermarket on arrival day for essential shopping is a major bonus. Tony is around to give excellent local information when requested.
The apartment is extremely comfortable with stunning views from the terrace over Elounda. Fantastic local restaurants within walking distance.

"Idyllic, we'll be back"

Have just spent the last week of the season in the Georgia apartment, which is situated in the small village of Mavrikiano just above the Elounda bay resort. The centre of Elounda is a 10 minute walk from the apartment where there are a good and varied selection of bars and Tavernas. The apartment is comfortable and has all of the appliances required, all you have to do is add the food and drink which is readily available from the local stores. We found plenty yo do locally so didn't need to have a car ( there are car hire offices in Elounda). Spinalonga by boat, Upper Elounda and Plaka on foot are well worth the effort locally. Agios Nikolaos and Knossos are within easy reach via the local bus service. Whilst the apartment is situated on a hill, the terrace with its fantastic views makes it worthwhile for relaxation and just to "chill-out" plus there are 2 Tavernas either side easily within 3 minutes walk serving lovely Greek food.
Other plus points are the airport transfers via Tony (included in the price) plus their knowledge of the Island and the offer of day trips with Tony should you so wish.
In summary, would we go again, without a doubt !

"Lovely apartment with fabulous views"

Apartment Georgia is a lovely modern apartment. The sun terrace is full of bright plants and affords fantastic views of the town and sea ... we spent many hours relaxing here with a glass of wine, watching the yachts and boats go in and out. Lots of walking opportunities both in the town area and in the mountains. Restaurants and bars within easy walking distance and a taverna a few hundred yards away. Absolutely love Mavrikiano and Elounda and will definitely be back next year.

"beautiful setting , good restaurants, no clubs"

We have stayed here several times, the accommodation is clean and comfortable with air con. in the bedroom, quite basic . The best part is the private terrace with it's panoramic views over the bay and the hills beyond, you could quite easily spend your whole day here.
Elounda is a small resort with a pretty harbour used by local fishermen, there are lots of places to eat, a few bars no clubs that I know of, a family resort I suppose. The beaches are white sand and very safe. Tony and Virginia ( the owners) actually live above the property and offer to pick you up at the airport and take you back included in the price . The downside is the hill, you need to be fit and mobile to get up and down perhaps twice a day but the view is worth it.
