Home description
Labat Grange is perfect for a relaxing family holiday. It is set in 5 acres of stunning French countryside in a quiet valley in South West France. The property itself has four large en suite bedrooms, 2 doubles and 2 twin rooms. The en suite shower rooms are large and fully tiled.
The living area is double height to show the huge old oak beams and white stone walls to their best effect. Tastefully furnished, it is equipped with English Satellite TV, French TV, DVD player and DVDs, stereo and a selection of CDs. For the winter there is a green enamel wood burning stove. Up stone steps from the living area is the kitchen, which is modern and fully equipped, with a dishwasher, gas hob, eye-level oven, fridge freezer and microwave. We recognise that for some people on holiday, cooking is a way of relaxing and with this in mind, we have provided everything that we feel you would need to cook a gourmet meal.
The property is set in its own attractive private garden with a 10 x 5 m swimming pool, table tennis table, table football, barbeque, patio furniture and sun loungers. The pool is fenced and alarmed and complies with the new French pool regulations. The valley in which the property is set is a cul de sac and so there is no through traffic. It is a true nature lovers paradise with a whole host of plants, birds and animals including orchids, woodpeckers, deer, red squirrels and badgers.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
Labat Grange is in the department of the Lot et Garonne, one of the 5 departments making up the region of Aquitaine.
Lot et Garonne is a area of rolling hills and wild woodlands. It is mainly an agricultural region growing, maize, sunflowers (for oil) and fruit, in particular, strawberrys, melons and plums for the famous Agen prunes. It has the wine regions of Buzet and Duras, Buzet in particular producing many fine wines.
The climate is one of hot, dry summers and mild winters. Summer generally lasts from April to October.
There is something for everything here, particularly in summer. Many people like to just soak up the sun by the pool with a good book. For the more active there is horseriding, cycling, golf, canoeing and walking. There are the many markets which take place in towns and villages all year round but particularly in summer with the pleasant additional of the nocturnal markets. There are many historic buildings to visit such as the chateaux at Bonguil and Duras and the museum in Agen.
For children there is the white knuckle theme park, Parc Walibi close to Agen, Parc en Ciel, a tree top adventure playground, Darel pony club in Pont du Casse and many many more.
Agen area
Agen is a beautiful town and in summer in particular there is always something going on. The town puts on an extensive programme of free open air summer concerts to suit all musical tastes. If you are lucky enough to be there is September there is the Prune show, a celebration of the famous Agen prune which lights up the whole town day and night for 3 days.
The town has many many lovely reasonably price restaurants to choose from and lots of shops selling local specialities to explore. In addition there are 2 large markets which take place in the town every week.

Further details indoors: Labat has been described by many of our guests as tasteful and many have praised the restoration of this old building. We have tried to use traditional materials where possible, from the hand-made terrecuite on the ground floor and oak floor boards on the first floor to the old oak beams and 'crepi' wall covering. We have combined this traditional approach with modern comforts in the form of comfortable furniture, full oil central heating, clean, modern en suite bathrooms, a modern fitted kitchen with French tiled worktops. We think it works very well and our guests seem to agree.
Further details outdoors: The property is set in a very pretty private garden which includes a lawned area, a seating area and the fenced pool area with sun loungers.
Further afield, the land stretches for 5 acres and is partly wooded. It is absolutely teeming with wildlife and is fascinating to explore.

The swimming pool is for exclusive use of guests and is available from 1st May to 30th September.

Wow! We have been holidaying in France for 5 years and this is the all time best villa we have stayed in! Beautifully converted; the pool is fab and will always be remembered as the place my son learned to swim. Thankyou so much. Sian, Danie, Dylan and Charlotte August 2008

Many thanks for our fantastic two weeks spent in your wonderful house. it had everything we needed and more - we really appreciated the toys and chairs for the little ones. The Walker and Turner families July 2008
Sarah and Clive; the hosts with the most! Even provided perfect weather and a nightingale. Very tranquil and well appointed. Thankyou. Alan, July 2008
Despite being your official 'furthest away' guests (we were from New Zealand) we felt right at home in your lovely gite. Very well equipped and the weather was good for us. We appreciate being your first clients on a lovely wine tour in Duras and would recommend the outing to future guests. Thanks again. Wendy Athalie, Hamish, Bryon and Finlay. June 2008.
