Get involved in French village life in a completely restored little forge right in the heart of the old quarter of Agde 4km from lovely Mediterranean beaches. You'll be just a few steps from the old town's promenade and the weekly market with its amazing bargains and fabulous food. The lovely family beach at Grau d'Agde is only 4km away, an easy pedal along the cycle paths of the River Herault which runs down the sea from the village. The Canal du Midi is just a step away and the resort of Cap d'Agde and the naturist quarter - the biggest in Europe is just 5 km. The area is lovely to visit in the cooler months as well. There are wonderful walking tracks in the Haute languedoc. You can tour the local wineries, go horse riding or visit some of the marvellous historic sites within easy reach. The fascinating cities of Nimes, Montpellier and Toulouse are great day trips, and Barcelona is only 3 hours by car. A great place to experience the real France without the crowds.

Agde is situated on the banks of the Herault River in a lovely part of southern France. Just 4 kilometres down the river easily reached on foot, by bus,or on a bike is the beautiful family beach of Grau d'Agde with fine white sand and atmospheric little restaurants. Local buses and trains are inexpensive making the fascinating nearby towns very accessible. Montpellier is a 'must see' - a major university town full of life music and art, and Pezenas a major center for antiques.
