The centre of activity is the Place de la Comedie, known locally as "L'Oeuf" ("the egg")with buzzing bars and cafes offering hundreds of tables and chairs all perfectly positioned for an afternoon, or eveing of people watching. The medieval city of Carcassonne, one of Aude's most popular historic landmarks, has been restored to much of its medieval glory while the town of Narbonne attracts many tourists to its Roman ruins.
