House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 12
Las Arenas, built in 2009, is only 5mins walking to both beaches of Marion Bay. The layout of Las Arenas has been purposely designed to be functional for entertaining large groups. As a seasoned traveler I'm all too aware of what people want- home away from home or something even better, and Las Arenas delivers all the comforts of home and more. It has comfy Queen beds, comfy leather lounges, a big kitchen with loads of seats and ample facilities throughout the house. Las Arenas has 3 large bedrooms and sleeps 12 people in comfort. As such the huge kitchen has 2 fridges and an 8 seater solid wooden dining table, with another 8 seater dining set on the patio for al fresco dining. Facilities include a 3rd fridge/freezer outside, full laundry, seperate shower/toilet/vanities on both levels- huge double shower downstairs, 3 Queen size beds (ie one in each bedroom), 3 flatscreen TV's, 2 leather lounge suites seating at least 11 adults, 2x lazyboyz, main lounge with pool table & dedicated beer fridge, large stereo, book shelf, dimmer switches, outdoor fire place, large patio with excellent stainless steel BBQ and ample parking space for several cars and a boat. The outside area has been designed to preserve as much native vegetation as possible. Two large trees dominate the property and afford both privacy and extra shade from the afternoon sun for both the house and any vehicles parked in the ample space provided. There is also a small garden of local native flora. Las Arenas uses solar electricity, solar hot water and relies on rainwater so please be conscious of our precious environment. Enjoy your time at Las Arenas and Marion Bay!

The South Australia region
South Australia or SA, is Australia's driest state and enjoys for the most part a hot desert climate in the interior and a decidely more favourable Mediterranean climate along its coastal areas around Adelaide. With its favourable climate SA is widley known as the countries leading wine region. The Yorke Peninsula has a typical South Australian climate in that it enjoys hot dry summers with maximum temperatures in the very high 30's, the daytime average is in the mid to high 20's and night time temperatures that often cool off into the high teens. The winter receives a mild amount of rain and is cool to cold with the day time temp averaging 15 degrees and night time temperature dropping into the high single digits. Also the water temperature rises up to 23 in late summer and drops to around 12 in the middle of winter. The Yorke Peninsula is a sparesly populated area and as such it is full of isolated, beautiful bays, wild surf beaches and a plethora of great fishing spots all set in a spetacular area of stunning nature. Marion Bay, the little jewel of the area, is a quiet, relaxed, safe & sleepy beach town perfect for anyone looking to get away and unwind!
The old part of Marion Bay is a 2 minute drive from Las Arenas or a 10 minute walk. Here you will find the General store which is open 7 days & provides fuel, gifts, food, magazines, bait, household goods & a selection of DVD's for hire. The Surf Shop next door is also open 7 days a week. The Marion Bay Tavern is open 7 days with delicious Australian dining accompanied by awesome sea views. It also has take away pizzas, a bottle shop & ATM. The town also has a playground & tennis courts and public phone. The Marion Bay boat ramp is located here next to the jetty (the Marion Bay jetty is famous for catching the biggest squid in the State!) and the beach is a family friendly beach, usually fairly tame water with glorious white sand & rocks to explore. At low tide the right side of the beach close to Penguin Point becomes the perfect place for families with shallow wading pools, a large flat area for beach cricket and a small playground nearby. Around the corner is Willyama Beach which is a beautiful unspoilt beach, with a nice wave on the reef and great scuba diving opportunities on the wreck of the Willyama (wrecked April, 1907).
Innes National Park is just a 5 minute drive from Las Arenas. At the enterance to the park you will find the Innes Park Trading Post & Rhinos Tavern which is open 7 days and serves excellet pub meals. The Trading Post provides fuel, gifts, food, magazines, bait, groceries, ATM, postal services & ice. There is a boat ramp at Fishermans Village in Pondalowie Bay and Stenhouse Bay Jetty is a great place to fish. The Innes National Park Visitor Information Centre is open 7 days a week.
