Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 7
This charming villa has been lovingly restored by an American/Italian couple living in Rome. Typical Pugliese architecture with thick stone walls and star shaped high ceilings, the sun shines through the many windows. With two terraces, one overlooking the main square and the other overlooking the majestic Arditi castle, our home is a perfect spot from which to explore the Salento regions many spectacular beaches and towns, White sandy beaches within a ten minute drive and set up for sun bed rentals and restaurants, more off the beaten track seaside hideaways on the opposite rocky coast, there are plenty of glorious places to visit.
Gallipoli, Lecce and Otranto are lovely day trips, and there is boat rental down beneath us in the town of Santa Maria di Leuca.
The two bedrooms on the top floor are set up to have easy access to the open plan living/dining room and sunny kitchen, with one bedroom having a bunk bed and double bed (the bathroom is not ensuite here), the master bedroom has an ensuite bedroom with shower. The third bedroom is a few steps down and is arge and bright with a small kitchen corner and bathroom with shower.
There is a washing machine in the terrace bathroom and a large table for outdoor dining. Air conditioning in the upstairs part of the house (both bedrooms, and the living room) while the third bedroom has an overhead fan.

The Puglia region
Salento is found in Puglia's southernmost area, deep south. A mix between Baroque architecture typical of Southern Italy and Greece's whitewashed villages and houses, the area offers magnificent beaches, unparalleled coastlines, traditional food grown on local crops and delcious local wines.
A carpet of olive trees as far as the eye can see, endless white sandy beaches on the Ionian Coast and deep crystal blue water to dive into on the opposite Adriatic Coast, the natural landscape of Salento is indeed breathtaking. Gallipoli, Otranto and Lecce are spectacular local day trips, but there are dozens of tiny villages dotting the countryside worth visiting along with the many inlets and bays that the coasts have to offer.
Step back in time and enjoy the slow living in Salento!
