Home description

The villa is a magnificent example of spacious living, and furnished to a high standard. Completely private, so totally safe for kids, and by a small rural village, so bakery, butcher and kafenion1 minute walk away. With its extensive living space, larger groups can stay together comfortably. On one side of the property large terraces face onto the mature gardens (palm trees, plum, lemon, apple, orange and fig trees), and on the other side is a private pool, with BBQ, bar, ample sun lounging and dining areas, and all surrounded by original 2,400 year old walling.

The House's 13 rooms include 3 bathrooms/toilets (2 with baths and 1 with walk-in shower), a large farmhouse style kitchen , a separate dining room for 8-10 people, a beautiful Turkish-styled room separate from the main living are, which can double as another living area or additional bedroom, and 5 standard bedrooms.
The living room alone extends 15m x 7m with several seating areas and beautiful stone floorwork. The farmhouse kitchen has every amenity (though we have a cook on hand if you fancy some wonderful greek cooking occassionally). The House is wi-fi enabled, and has Sat TV, DVD, CD. It's decorated to a high standard including original artifacts and paintings, and is a wonderful - and unique - setting for relaxation and space and a great location for enjoying the best of real Greece with beaches cafes and tavernas within a 5 minute drive.

The Mainland Greece region

Central Greece includes some of the most spectacular scenery of the country, from mountains to raging rivers, huge forests, and lots of tiny hamlets and seaside fishing villages, and often, small quiet beaches. Its rural, people friendly, and its real Greece, without hordes of tourists.

It's an ideal all-year round location (the islands tend to largely shut down outside of the summer months), from the slightly cooler summer months, beautiful springtime flowers and smells - and balmy winter nights with skiing in the mountains and swimming off the beaches sometimes possible on the same day.

And, of course, the best of the ancient sites and experiences of real Greece yet full of sophisticated and busy cafes, bars and restaurants


Achinos area

A simple motorway drive from Athens airport (232kms), we're within 5 minutes of beaches, in a rural and REAL Greece setting, amongst olive groves and beautiful shoreline. Achinos is itself an ancient village, and within walking distance is a Venetian tower, a Turkish Ottery, a Moorish castle, and some Roman foundations.

This area is where Athenians themselves like to weekend, so although a rural location, there are plenty of beaches and many sophisticated cafes, bars and tavernas and restaurants all within a short drive away. Nearest beaches are 5 minutes away by car, or 12 minutes walking.

Day trips to the beautiful Pelion mountain region and Volos, the breathtaking Byzantine monasteries of Meteroa, the infamous Thermpolyae pass, and ancient Delphi are easy trips from our location. Natural hot spring mineral baths are 30 minutes away and the unspoilt island of Evia 30 minutes. The local monasteries are wonderful easter locations, too. Snow skiing is about a 1 hour drive, depending on location.

Fly into Athens Thessaloniki or Volos airports

The villa is about 225kms from the city of Athens and 265kms from Thessaloniki. Volos airport is about 20 minutes. Direct motorway connection from all airports to the villa.

British Airways, Olympic, Aegean, EasyJet, fly direct into these (though Volos is not daily, and charter only).

The drive from airports is easy - motorway 90% of the way. You get comprehensive driving instructions sent to you before you depart on your journey to us.

The main living room has several seating areas, and in its main seating area a magnificent open wood fireplace, with Satellite TV, DVD, Hi-Fi, and a small library of books and films and wi-fi. 13 rooms including large kitchen, 5 beds 3 baths dining room, other rooms

Stone flooring (from Pelion) and rich warm colours, original Greek artefacts and paintings, and spacious sliding glassed terrace doors are the main design theme of the House. Palm and fig trees, apple, orange, cherry and lemon trees, populate the gardens.

With 2 main entrances, you can drive into the private courtyard or walk through the gardens to the front terraces.

It's designed for year-round living. Thick walls, stone flooring, wide expanses of glass, large ceiling fans and solar water heating keep the House cool and usable through the Summer. Central Heating, several log fireplaces and winter rugs keep the House warm and comfortable through the Winter even in the heaviest snowfalls (with skiing just 1 hour away).


Further details

All rentals are completed with a rental contract signed by both parties. A deposit and completion of rental contract secures the reservation. Final payment is 10 weeks prior to arrival date. There is a Damages & Security deposit required on pre-arrival, returned departure day.
