The North West Ireland region

* Hill- Walking: Achill Island and the Curraun Peninsula offer some of the most spectacular walks and treks in Ireland. Unlike many popular walking areas in the west of Ireland, most of the countryside on Achill is in common ownership, which means that it is open and freely accessible for hill walkers. The two highest peaks are Slievemore and Croaghaun.

* Golfing: Achill is an ideal location in which to base your golfing holiday, offering access to renowned links courses at Westport and Belmullet (Carne) as well as local courses on Achill Island and at Mulranny.

* Fishing: The waters of Clew Bay, on the southern shore of the Currane Peninsula, and the Atlantic waters of Achill Island provide some of the best sea angling in Europe.
