The Greater Accra region
Accra also has some beautiful beaches, some more touristy than others. Labadi and Kokrobite will ask for an entrance fee, expect a busy crowd on Saturday and especially Sunday. You'll probably be entertained by musicians and acrobats, they will usually ask for a small token for the entertainment. It's up to you. Bear in mind that they count on it for their livelihood. You will also find a lot of peddlers selling all sorts of things. If you like a more quiet beach, you should check out CoCo beach (in Teshie) though very rocky and not so good for swimming. Also Misty (in between Teshie and Tema). Ada beach is another quiet beach situated on the mouth of the Volta River. There you will find some water sports activities. The trip there will take a bit longer but it's worth it. For the best beaches you really need to head outside of Accra.
The Accra area
The most touristy area of Accra is Osu. It's located quite close to the Art Centre and Liberation Square. The main street (Cantoments Road) and those around the area have plenty of good hotels and restaurants of all kinds. Fast food like burgers & pizza is widely available. International foods like Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, French, etc. are also available. But for those who like Ghanaian food better or would like to try it for the first time, there is a big (and really clean) chopbar nearby.
If you're into the club scene, there are loads of places to choose from. Depending on the style of music, atmosphere and crowd you prefer. There is something for everyone. If you happen to be traveling with children, there is a bowling alley in Teshie, and go carts near the trade fair site in Labadi.

GETTING TO GHANA
Ghana is much closer than you think, and the flying time from the UK or Europe is just six hours.
It would be fair to say that flights to Ghana are expensive compared to fights to, say, Gambia, however, this is because Ghana is not a mass tourist destination (a real advantage, we think). In low season - Jan to Jun and September to November, you will be able to get a flight from UK/Europe between £400 and £450. However during peak times, prices can be as high as £650. Having said that, once you get to Ghana, food, accommodation and transport are cheaper than you would get elsewhere and you will find the total cost of the trip is quite competitive.
A number of major airlines fly to Ghana and including:
British Airways (Direct from UK)
Ghana International (Direct from UK)
KLM (Direct from Holland)
Luftshansa (Direct from Germany)
Alitalia (From Italy via Lagos, Nigeria)
Virgin (From UK via Lagos, Nigeria)
Emirates (From all over the world via Dubai)
American Airlines (From USA via UK)
You can book flights online at the various airlines’ websites or through the well known travel websites.
Any non Ghanaian travelling to Ghana will require a visa. A visa application form can be downloaded from your local Ghana High Commission website. Applications take four days to process.

Guestbook for Sams Villa 2
"I stayed five nights at the house in Teshie Nungwa and I thought it was great. No complaints, very comfortable, good AC (once we found the switches) and TV and so on."
