Home description
There are five bedrooms in the chalet , three double bedrooms available with en-suite shower rooms, one large bedroom with double bed, en-suite shower and panoramic views of village and mountains. Two other double bedrooms one with double bed and the other with twin beds both with en-suite shower facilities. The remaining two rooms on that floor are normally reserved for children one room with twin beds and the other with a bunk and single bed. There is a large family bathroom on the same floor.
The Chalet offers a sitting room, with woodburner, a TV salon with seating for 6 on angle sette. A dining room with table for up to 12 people and panoramic view. The chalet and apartments benefit from underfloor heating so are always warm and cosy in the winter.
There is also a very well equipped spacious one bedroom apartment with large bedroom and twin beds with bathroom, shower overhead en suite. The sitting room has a double sofa bed and there is a small but well equipped kithchenette, underfloor heating and french doors with superb views over the village.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Abondance is located in the Haute Savoie in the Rhone Alps region of France. It is approximately one hours drive from the City of Geneva. Abondance is part of the Portes du Soleil a fabulous mountain range ideal for activity holidays winter, spring summer and autumn. The region benefits from cold winters allowing superb winter sports and hot summers allowing for activities such as walking, mountain hiking, mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and white water rafting, horse and pony trecking, golf near lake Geneva and fly fishing in the crystal clear mountain lakes.
Abondance area
Portes du Soleil mountain range with over 650 km of marked piste and unending off piste skiing is a must to visit in the winter and also summer with its hiking and mountain biking tracks, high altitude mountain lakes and stunning scenery. Abondance is an ancient savoyard village dating back to 1100 with an abbey and cloisters open to the public. The Maison du Val a lovely cheese factory making the famous Abondance fermier cheese is also open to the public in the village. Lake Geneva is under 30 minutes drive away with sailing and swimming. There is a good golf course on route to Lake Geneva also under 30 minutes drive. Abondance is also famous for its cows who are herded through the village on their way to the cheese factory and super market each Sunday.
How to get there
Ferry or Channel Tunnel from Dover to Calais or budget ferry Norfolk Line from Dover to Dunkerque. Take A26 to Reims follows autoroutes to Troyes, Dijon, Bourg en Bresse, Geneva, Thonon les Bains, follow signs out of Thonon for Morzine, Chatel then Abondance. Chalet de L'Abbaye is located on a rural road, elevated some 200 m from the village centre. Go past the Journeux Shop on right, look for sign "Chalet de L'Abbaye" 1st on right on Telegraph post. Fly from any London airport to Geneva. Car hire or taxi (better to pre-book). Easyjet or Flybe or British Airways. Abondance is one hour 15 minutes drive from the airport.

Just 25 minutes away is beautiful lake geneva with turquoise water and stunning scenery, making it a perfect place to relax and take in the sun as well as swimming in calm tranquility. No tides mean a safe and secure place for bathers of all ages. The lake is often recommended as a tonic for all manner of aches and pains.
