Le Sherpa overlooking the beautiful Abondance Valley renowned for beautiful scenery, cheese, cows and farming. With a 10m2 balcony east/south facing you will never wake up to a better view. The medieval village of Abondance with its abbey of 900 years has been a key focal point for the area for this whole period. Offering all year activities with ski resorts offering downhill, cross country, ice skating and ice diving at La Chappelle D'Abondance and Chatel only 5mins and 15mins drive respectively. Both resorts in the Portes du Soleil connect to Morgins & Torgins in Switzerland with Chatel also connecting to Morzine & Avoriaz. In summer the mountains take on a completely different appearance with activities including hiking, swimming in the many lakes and pools inc Lake Geneva, rafting, canoeing or canyoning the numerous rivers, mountain biking, golf, tennis, horse riding or simply enjoying the thermal baths. The beautiful Sunday market in Abondance sells local produce from the region including cheeses, meats and fruit and vegetables.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Only 20mins from the beach of Lac Leman (aka Lake Geneva) and from the borders of Switzerland. The area enjoys cold snowy winters where you can ski over 650km of the Porte du Soleil and very warm long sunny summers. The areas of Abondance, Annecy and Yvoire offer villages steeped in medieval history while towns like Evian & Thonon are natural spa towns where the water is world renowned. Other towns and points of reference within the region include; Morzine, Les Get, Chamonix, on the lake; Chateau de Chillon, Nyon & Montreux & Chateau de Gruyeres home to the famous creamy cheese in Switzerland.
Abondance area
Local markets held weekly in Chatel, La Chapelle d'Abondance & Abondance. Beautiful towns with churches and restaurants running along the many farms in the region. There is no better feeling walking in the mountains, listening to the water running by and the sound of Abondance cows eating the rich grass that produces the soft and smooth Abondance cheese.

Abondance is only 1hr 10min drive from Geneva Airport - only 40miles From Ferries at Calais or Bologne - is an 8hr Drive Numerous airlines fly to Geneva Intl - Easyjet, Air France, Swiss Air, British Airways from;City, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stanstead, Exeter... Many car hire companies inc Budget, Alamo, Sixt, National, Europcar - http://www.travelsupermarket.com/ You can also fly into Champery and Grenoble
Car hire available from www.premiercarhire.co.uk. Local buses run regularly between the airport and the town. There are always local taxis available - fare should be no more than 20 euros.

Further details indoors: Le Sherpa is a studio style apartment fully equipped for four people. The studio has a double sofa bed in the lounge and a single bunk bed in a separate room (coin montagne). The studio is very well equipped with TV and DVD player and radio. The flat has electric heaters.
Kitchen/Dining - The Studio has a corner kitchen containing sink, 2-ring hob, fridge and microwave (combining grill, oven and microwave). The kitchen is also equipped with necessary crockery, cutlery and pans. A kettle and coffee maker is also available. For dining there is a dining table and four chairs.

Further details outdoors: Area activities Only 10mins walk to village with numerous restaurants, bakery, mini supermarkets bank and sport shops offering winter sports hire of Abondance. Together with the beautiful 11c Abbey. The larger town of Chatel with numerous shops and large Intermarche supermarket is only 15mins drive.
The ski bus stops in Abondance and serves both ski stations in La Chapelle and Chatel.
Due to the quiet area, the studio is better suited to couples and families not looking for busy nightlife.
A hire car is useful as the ski bus stops around 7pm. Alternatively, there are a number of taxi services available.

Heating and electricity are included in the price Guests are expected to clean the apartment prior to departure Guests will be required to provide their own linen (sheets and pillow cases) although linen can be arranged in advance. (8 euros for a double set and 6 euros for a single set) Weekly availability is normally from Saturday to Saturday (midday) although negotiable

Thanks for the use of the flat we had a great week
We had a great week, what a fantastic place to own. Loved Abondance and the skiing at La Chappelle - ventured over towards Torgon one day but otherwise stayed very local as the snow was good and it wasn't very busy. We all agreed that we'll want to go back at some point, summer and/or winter so we will no doubt be in touch
